Heal It Up Lyrics
feeling the fire under my feet
i was a liar, you were a cheat
playing with knives we were cut close to home
close to the bone
just so alone
something to have, something to hold
something to share so i've been told
deep in your eyes you're one hundred years old
cause the years have not been kind to you, you know
heal it up
heal it up
heal me up
heal me up
heal me up
feeling the pinch, feeling the hope
feeling the void deep in my soul
feeling my feelings so out of control
cause the years have not been kind to me, i know
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal me up
i was a liar, you were a cheat
playing with knives we were cut close to home
close to the bone
just so alone
something to share so i've been told
deep in your eyes you're one hundred years old
cause the years have not been kind to you, you know
heal it up
heal me up
heal me up
heal me up
feeling the void deep in my soul
feeling my feelings so out of control
cause the years have not been kind to me, i know
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal it up
heal me up

failed relationship between two damaged people..Heal it up-time to move on.
I agree with the damaged relationship bit, but I'm not sure if it's getting at moving on. I think the "you" in the song has his own demons, which has lead to him cheating, while she lies to herself to keep things going. This wears on her, so eventually everything comes to a head when she says to heal it up. Really just another idea, I don't know which is right
On another level, the song is about how fame can tear a person apart and put a lot of stress on them. The liar and cheat line is really about having to put up a facade and look perfect even when they are not. Female singers are often judged on their age and how youthful looking they are. Johnette was 35 when this was released and knew that age could spell doom for her career in the minds of some. This is why some celebrities turn to drugs to cope with the image-vs.-reality thing.

This song should have been bigger than it was. It's a great thumping, stadium song that always charges you up.
It's about taking stock of your relationship - if there's sign of damage, heal it up. Methinks...
Once we took turns singing the chorus of this song fullforce with reckless abandon. It was fucking hilarious!
