Good Enough Lyrics
If I woke up late couldn't get out of bed
If I bought you a cafe latte instead
If I lied when I said 32 inches was t
he size of my waist
And can I admit everyone once in a while
Even though I dig alternative style,
Occasionally, I can be caught
dancing to Britney
Can I confess that arthouse doesn't turn me on
But I like every single thing that Spielberg's done
Could I be good enough?
Could I be good enough?
If the going got worse and the worse got rough,
The days became endless
and harder than tough
I'd be good enough.
Better than best,
would be simply to be good enough.
If everything I give doesn't seem like a lot
If it's all that I got
baby, tell me that could be good enough
Where I grew up the rent was cheap
But we always had enough to eat.
Didn't have fancy clothes.
I never really cared cause there were shoes on my toes.
And motherly love,
I knew it like the back of my hand.
She always had a way
to make me understand
Could I be good enough?...
Cause I don't know which
way this road is gonna turn
But I know it's gonna be fine
But there are some days,
no matter how much you learn
That the road gets tough and
I don't feel good enough
And if you give me some of that loving
Could you pass some over
Let me cry on your soul
And tell me baby
I could be good enough for you
If I lost my job and my hair fell out
If I made no sense and I scream and shout
Would you laugh at me, never take a word I say seriously
When I'm out in the cold waiting in
the back of a line
Too afraid to drop my name
for fear of decline
Could I be good enough?..
If I bought you a cafe latte instead
If I lied when I said 32 inches was t
he size of my waist
And can I admit everyone once in a while
Even though I dig alternative style,
Occasionally, I can be caught

i remember darren saying on his website that this is the best song he's written. i doubt it.
yes but on unofficialdarrenhayes.com he said his favorite song was 'i'll bet he was cool'
i don't doubt that Darren says this is his favourite song that he's written. in fact, i'm glad to hear that he likes the song. personally, "good enough" seems to be the one decent song on Spin...everything else seems rather artificially sugar-coated. "good enough" contains the sense of truth that all the other songs lack. i think it's about how we try so hard some times, but we never really seem to be "good enough" for somebody else. kinda like linkin park's "in the end", but displacing the anger with a kind of sadness that lets truth seeps out. i love it :)
I agree, how we're never good enough is what it's about. This is my fav song, his voice doesn't do that weird high thing all the time like on insatiable where he sounds like Charlotte Church! It's not the typical love song, heartbreak songs he churns out.
i like all the songs on spin, good enough is his fave song as a solo artist, i'll bet he was cool is his fave from savage garden.
i dont know why you guys are all "oh this song is okay" because i think it's one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard in my life. it always makes me cry. maybe i just relate to the lyrics. or whatever. it's so beautiful and sweet and touching.
I like Infatuation Junkie interpretation, I think this song is full of sadness and self deprecation...How hard it is for us to find someone who sees the good within us, leaving behind the bad. I know how the searching is like, and so I can relate completely...I'm so far from being perfect, but still I hope that someone can loves me for who I am sometime.
Very insightful. The song and the interpertations offered here. I really love this song because it is definately so real and relatable. And it's comforting to know that people who seem to have so much, and so many people looking up to you, like Darren does, even feels insecure a lot of the time.
I love Darren Hayes, but I hate this song. The music and lyrics make me cringe. The Tension and the Spark is better than Spin times infinity.
haha but this is kind of cute... ---> "If I lost my job and my hair fell out If I made no sense and I scream and shout '"
Actualy I take my comment back, after a few more listens the song has grown on me. (: it's quite sweet.
