Magnetic North Lyrics

there's been borders
and there'll be boundaries
there's been times misdirection's found me
and there's been clearheads
and there'll be cleanslates
in times we find we pass the night away
everyone here hates everyone here
for doing the same thing that they do
everyone here hates everyone here
for doing the same thing that they do
that they do
and there's been new stunts
and there'll be no sleep
there's been times inspiration's found me
and there's been walls built
and there's been worse days
in times we find we spend the night away
everyone here hates everyone here
for doing the same thing that they do
everyone here hates everyone here
for doing the same thing that they do
that they do
all those people
they've been watching me
all those people
they hate me
all those people
they've watched me
all those people, yeah
just like me
and there's been borders
and there's been boundaries
and there'll be borders
yeah there'll be boundaries
cus everyone here hates everyone here
for what they do, for what they do

You lost borders and boundaries? Ouch!

Anyone actually know what the title means though?

I think the title might refer to people not meaning what they say/do. Magnetic north doesn't point at the North Pole, which is why compasses are always a little off.

this song is about finding your direction in life. about fucking up and then getting back on track. its a common theme in some of their songs.

Anybody else notice the similarity in one line to a line from Matchbox 20's "Back 2 Good?" In that song the line goes "everyone here hates everyone here for doing just like they do." I guess that inspired Vinnie. (Or it's a crazy coincidence. Or Rob Thomas got a time machine and stole the lyric.)
