"The Exploding Boy" as written by and Robert James Smith....
I couldn't hear a word you said
I couldn't hear at all
You talked until your tongue fell out
And then you talked some more

I knew if I turned
I'd turn away from you
And I couldn't look back

Tell yourself, we'll start again
Tell yourself, it's not the end
Tell yourself, it couldn't happen
Not this way, not today

General CommentAgreed, I love Alkaline Trio and the Cure. The original is great, but the start of the Alk3's Exploding Boy is awesome.

General CommentSupposedly, Robert and co. first recorded this song after they officially rejoined after the near-collapse after recording Pornography. The title is supposed to about the elation that Rob felt during this time of rediscovery of the band. I love the upbeat strumming--always puts me in a good mood when I hear it.

General CommentThis song is so good to me. I have struggled with walking away from negative influences and to me this song has the hope, grace and strength that walking away from negativity requires.
