this song speaks the truth and its just the kindof message that so many ppl around me need to hear.
Acc. to Aaron, "The lyrics are very old. Those are from like 10th or 11th grade in high school. For some strange reason while we were in recording I was having a hard time coming up with something for it. Sitting there, listening to it over and over again to have some sort of inspirational moment, these lyrics to this old song from a long time ago came into my head. I don't usually write observationally, I usually write introspectively, and this song is very observational."
I don't get it. Whenever people like Aaron Lewis or Scott Stapp make music that is absolutely amazing and truthful, people like phil here have to put them down? Why? Because it breaks that sugar coated world that people like that live in. Open Your Eyes is one of my favourite songs because that's what it does- opens my eyes and speaks the truth

Shows how no one in society gives a fuck about other people. The system is what ruins society. Its fucked up and I think Aaron is showing that in this song. I think its there next song to be blasted on the radio :D I think other people should hear this song. Its a great song. Staind fucking rocks! When the fuck is their next album coming out?
ok phil, society does have problems & this song does point this out. It doesn't mean u have 2 go & start changing things, but maybe when people hear this song they will be more appreciative of wut they have realizing that things could be worse 4 them. So in my opinion this song is 2 point out that there are problems & that people are oblivious 2 them & taking there happiness in their lives 4 granted...

Holy Shit! This is a reminder, right in my face, how cruel the world really is! I can only listen to this a few times because it brings me down every time I listen to it! Staind is obviously an awesome band, and jerks in this country have to know what people are really going through and stop acting like narcissistic dip-shits and doing nothing about it! this is the best song on break the cycle along with waste. this song has great lyrics, about how there are many bad things going on in society and everyone just ignores them and they get worse.
