Maybe I'm a witch lost in time
Running through the fields of Scotland by your side
Kicked out of France but I still believe
As I'm taken to a land far across the sea
Oh, Etienne! Etienne!
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe I'll remember who I am...
Maybe you're the knight who saved my life
Maybe we faced the fire side by side
Here we are again under the same sky
As the gypsy crystal slowly dies
Oh, Etienne! Etienne!
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe we'll remember who I am...
I close my eyes...
See you again...
I know I've held you
But I can't remember where or when
Oh, Etienne! Etienne!
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe we'll remember who I am...
Maybe I'm a witch...
Oh, Etienne...
Running through the fields of Scotland by your side
As I'm taken to a land far across the sea
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe I'll remember who I am...
Maybe we faced the fire side by side
As the gypsy crystal slowly dies
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe we'll remember who I am...
See you again...
I know I've held you
But I can't remember where or when
Hear the west wind whisper my name
Etienne! Etienne!
By the morning maybe we'll remember who I am...

This song is about a gypsy girl, I think.
It's definately about reincarnation. I think she knew someone she cared about very deeply, and felt like she had always known him, and this is her message to him. Kind of a "What if this is how we knew each other so well?" thing.
As a Scot, the song puts me in mind of the times of 16th century Scotland were Mary Queen of Scots came from France to Scotland to claim the crown ( Etienne) . In a time were there was religious upheaval between Catholic and Protestant. Until Mary was beheaded by Queen Elizabeth. Mary would have been seen as a heretic (maybe a witch) against the protestant faith upheld by Elizabeth I. such a great song !!
