Playing Cards With Judas Lyrics
Playing cards with Judas in the lounge of our hotel
And I ask while we're playing if he likes it there in hell
Judas doesn't answer; he just laughs and plays his hand
Lights another cigarette and turns toward the band
"I have no missionary zeal", I say,
"No armies fighting sin."
But I'll keep playing, I'll keep playing until I win.
"I always loved the blues," he says, from behind that grin
"Are you getting used to losing yet girl.." I stack and deal them again
"Your friends have good intentions
But they're a thousand years too late.
A few buildings and commandments
Won't save you from your fate."
"I have no missionary zeal", I say,
No armies fighting sin."
But I'll keep playing, I'll keep playing until I win.
And I ask while we're playing if he likes it there in hell
Judas doesn't answer; he just laughs and plays his hand
Lights another cigarette and turns toward the band
"No armies fighting sin."
But I'll keep playing, I'll keep playing until I win.
"Are you getting used to losing yet girl.." I stack and deal them again
"Your friends have good intentions
But they're a thousand years too late.
A few buildings and commandments
Won't save you from your fate."
No armies fighting sin."
But I'll keep playing, I'll keep playing until I win.

You may be temped by depression. But dont give into it. Dont give up or lose hope. Her friends have given in. But she wont even though times are changing. when she says "I have no missionary zeal" "No armies fighting sin" she means that she may not be as strong as the depression or "Judas" but if she plays it out and is patient she can beat it.
A very good song about not giving up and being persistent. Excellent use of analogy - playing cards till you win. Top notch song.
