Sweet Ones Lyrics
They're counting on a guilty conscience to save you
But I'm banking on the deep blue eyes and the face too
They always said, always said, always said you were easy
Oh...
If I could have just one piece of that I'd be so good
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know
Come over to my house, I'll tend to you solo
You're so fabulous and well-dressed-up like a talk show
They always said, always said, always said you were easy
Oh...
if i could have just one piece of that i'd be sold
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know
Oh so sadly...
Love you madly...
Want to take you home
Oh and if I could have just one piece of that I'd be so good
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know
But I'm banking on the deep blue eyes and the face too
They always said, always said, always said you were easy
Oh...
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know
You're so fabulous and well-dressed-up like a talk show
They always said, always said, always said you were easy
Oh...
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know
Love you madly...
Want to take you home
Come over to the sweet ones baby
And I'll tell you where to go
I can't see them when they walk in sideways
I don't know, I don't know

That song's so catchy :) I bought sarah's album the day I first heard "Sweet Ones", and it's well worth it. Just love her.
This song has a great sound. It's almost cabaret. Very new to me, and I like it. :)
If you think this song is great... try listening to some of her other songs... they'll knock your socks off ;)
In attempting to analyze this song I realised that the lines "I can't see them when they walk in sideways" and "they can't see you when you walk in sideways" would mean that the person in question is either one-dimensional or two-dimensional.
Think about it -- we are 3D. Height, width, and length. 2D is height and length -- no width, which means if you turn yourself sideways you'd be virtually invisible. 1D is generally impossible, but nevertheless you'd be invisible when turned sideways.
Just a theory.
I don't feel this one at all. It's not one of my favorite songs upon many listens - I've never really looked at the lyrics either so all I can think about is that she feels she always go for the sweet ones?
sing along..Really LOUD! haha this is such a fun song, i love it! I'm not too sure what it means, but it makes me happy anyways :)
This song is actually about popular/famous people. In an interview, Sarah said that "Sweet ones" was meant to be a sarcastic way of saying that she doesn't want to be popular if it means that she has to be shallow or "one dimensional."
i was gonna say maybe she views those people as people who dont 'hold any substance' if your infront of them you see a face and a body, but its a facade, when you see them from a different angle you realize they have no depth or matter... hm

I've only heard this song twice but I love it. It does have a very cabaret feeling to it. I love the piano sounds and the chording is beautiful.
From what I can read in the lyrics the message seems to be about shallow or fake people. When she says "if I could have just one piece of that I'd be so good" it could refer to someone she loves but is too self-absorbed to love her. Or it could refer to desire many people have of becoming popular and famous. I really like the guilty conscience idea, it definately plays up the theme of the song. And the imagery is quite exquisite. This is my new favourite song.
i really didn't like this song at 1st but after i listened to it a few times and realized the meaning of it, i can't stop listening to it...it's really catchy and fun....i just love it....
i love this too. it's hard to find any satire in it at first, but i guess thats the beauty!
