Sproston Green Lyrics
This one knows, she comes and goes
And she goes, she goes
This on knows, she comes and goes
And when she goes, she goes
Sproston Green
she used to pace me
And now she hasn't got the time
I know I'm to necessary
And everything she stole was mine
This one knows, she comes and goes
And she goes, she goes
This on knows, she comes and goes
And when she goes, she goes
Sproston Green
she used to hate me
And now she hasn't got the time
I know I'm to necessary
And everything she stole was mine
You've got this one, I've got no one
She's oh she's mine, something wrong
And she goes, she goes
And when she goes, she goes
she used to pace me
And now she hasn't got the time
I know I'm to necessary
And everything she stole was mine
And she goes, she goes
And when she goes, she goes
she used to hate me
And now she hasn't got the time
I know I'm to necessary
And everything she stole was mine
She's oh she's mine, something wrong

This is apparently about Tim Burgess losing his virginity!
Sproston Green is a tiny hamlet in Cheshire, just a pub and a handful of houses. I'm guessing whoever wrote the song had a relationship with someone there, who knows?
@John Johnston its just off the m6 at junction 18 heading towards Northwich. you are right it is a dead small place. Burgess is from a place called Holmes Chapel in Cheshire and the road its on connects this little town to the next biggest place called Nothwhich, I always like to think it'd about some girl he met that was from there. If t is its there's a pretty good chance she's a farmer or the farmers daughter

it's my favourite of theirs to sing along with.

The last I heard, this song had something to do with a an Underground station named Sproston Green. I guess it could have been named after the tiny hamlet that John Johnston mentioned. And, it seems that it might have had something to do with a relationship with a girl. Maybe they met at, met up at, kissed at, broke up at Sproston Green? I am going to keep hunting for the answer.
The Charlatans have a song called Sproston Green. Never heard of The Charlatans UK.
amazing at Glastonbury in 2019
