Blackbird Lyrics

Blackbird singin' in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singin' in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly
Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark, black night

Blackbird fly
Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark, black night

Blackbird singin' in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Originially a Beatles' Song...from the I Am Sam sound track. I love the original version so much and I love Sarah McLachlan's voice. I think she did an amazing job on this song, it's absolutely beautiful. Sometimes I feel like the blackbird...I just want to spread my wings and fly away from everything that's been going on in my life the past few months. I think come graduation I'll finally be free from everything and the line "All your life...You were only waiting for this moment to be free" will be so fitting.

the way i see it... the blackbird symbolizes the broken soul from a broken life. what most people with broken souls don't realize is, you don't have to start completely over from scratch to make a life for yourself. you can simply take what you have and learn to deal with it and make the best of what you already have, no matter what the situation. "take these broken wings and learn to fly." This goes with one of my favorite sayings and reminds me of it-- "Even the most beautiful rainbows can be colored with broken crayons."

Oh, how I wish I could listen to Sarah's version of this song! I know she'd do it so wonderfully. It's a beautiful, poetic song and the Beatles' original version brings tears to my eyes every time I listen.

not to start the inevitable beatles war......BUT... blackbird did not come from the i am sam soundtrack. it is originally from the white album, part 1. thank you. this song is truly beautiful and i cry too (whenever i hear it.) it shows hope in even the darkest of times, like a dark blackbird flying away from all of the pain in the world.

GlitterGlue- it did and can be found on the I Am Sam soundtrack. Sarah McLachlan's version Tuesdayz_gone was referring to that is. Of course not originally done by Sarah.
