i always find it to be too much of a denial. She keeps saying it's just a crush, but it sounds like she's just trying to hide how serious it is.
At least, that's what my romantic mind thinks.

great song! and I think I agree with asdfasdf123, it does seem like shes trying to say its a crush and it will go away but she is really falling for him
Watching the video, it's not clear to me whether she has a crush on the driver or the other guy (who seems to be with the other girl). If it's the other guy, then that adds a whole new dimension to the meaning of the video and by extension the song: she has a crush on a friend who's involved with someone else.
Would anyone care to chime in?
I've met people who take this song literally - they think she really does NOT have a crush on the person - but I always thought she was in denial. She is trying to convince herself that it's "just a little crush".

I actually love this song. The meaning is very obvious but it's a catchy pop beat that I don't mind being stuck in my head. Too bad she was a one hit wonder.
I agree with I Heart Thursday on the fact that it's meaning is obvious. The beat is very catchy. I personally love it...it makes me think of summer and the beach.
I just heard this song on the radio, for the first time in probably 10 years or so. I still knew the tune exactly, which is a testament to its catchiness. It seems to be about a woman who is not entirely comfortable with the depth of her feelings in the relationship. Great tune, makes you wonder more about an artist when they make such a good song but are never heard from again.
I love how this song has a catchy rhythm, and the way she sighs the lyrics is entrancing. Although the meaning is pretty obvious, it's about a guy who's trying to get too serious in a relationship when she's not sure she wants to commit to him. The only question I have is, "What does it mean when she says he's 'banging on a heart of tin'?" Maybe implying that she's like the tinman and doesn't have romantic feelings for him?

This is song played at Apple Bees when I was sitting with my crush. He looked at me and seriously (i hadn't told him but he HAS to know) he said to me "It's just a little crush". Needless to say I screamed water please...with LOTS of ice. Cause whoa!!! It's not just a crush...and when we have touched I do wanna faint-thank you very much!!!
