Come On Lyrics
you've got your lights turn on so they can see you
the very best of what you've got to offer
tell them what your hands were made for
tell them who your mouth was made for
you've got your prophets and your mathematicians
the vocal fuel of a generation
tell me what my hands were made for
tell me who my mouth was made for
and please don't be mad at me
you'll get what you ask for
come on come on come on
so very close to what you had expected
it makes it very hard to keep my head up level
tell me I'm what your hands were made for
tell me I'm who your mouth was made for
if you come down on me
well you'll get what you ask for
come one come on come on
I I want to get myself back
all of the things that you promised me that you'd be
now your hands are tired
and all of the things that you promised me
that you'd need
now my hands are tired
come on come on come on
the very best of what you've got to offer
tell them what your hands were made for
tell them who your mouth was made for
you've got your prophets and your mathematicians
the vocal fuel of a generation
tell me what my hands were made for
tell me who my mouth was made for
and please don't be mad at me
you'll get what you ask for
come on come on come on
so very close to what you had expected
it makes it very hard to keep my head up level
tell me I'm what your hands were made for
tell me I'm who your mouth was made for
if you come down on me
well you'll get what you ask for
come one come on come on
I I want to get myself back
all of the things that you promised me that you'd be
now your hands are tired
and all of the things that you promised me
that you'd need
now my hands are tired
come on come on come on

Hawt song, correct. It's like "to hell with what you say our bodies are designed for, we're built for each other, dammit."
"tell me I'm what your hands were made for tell me I'm who your mouth was made for" this song is just... sexy
Either way, the song is about the frustration of being held to the wrong expectations and the desire to follow one's true passion. The song supports this theme in both a sexual and educational/motivational context.
"you've got your prophets and your mathematicians the vocal fuel of a generation" this part is referring more to the motivational context...
but who can deny the sexual power in Sara's voice? and "if you come down on me you'll get what you asked for"
The other version floating around.. I'm not sure where from though, is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY better than the album version on this business of art... I wouldn't even like this song if I hadn't heard the other version, I actually skip the this busines of art version when i listen to that cd =/
the version of this song with different lyrics than these (which is also like a full minute longer, and much better in my opinion) is from Under Feet Like Ours, their first studio album.
sexy sexy song!!!! love the lyrics!
i LOVE this song, its one of my favorites right now, its basically saying that they are meant for eachother and want everyone to know it
This song was written by Sara..about her "being stupid" She was struggling in one of her classes in highschool, and her teacher expected it of her, and her difficulty with accepting the fact that this subject may not be her forte.
i love this song! i get to meet tegan very soon.
oh, I realized the version I am listening to is different from the one on the cd, and much much better. bummer that it's not on the album!
