Beautiful Stranger Lyrics
Somekind of beautiful stranger
You could be good for me
I've had the taste for danger
But I'm not so I guess I'll stay
Heaven forbid
I'll take my chance on a beautiful stranger
And my world came tumbling down
You're the devil in disguise
That's why I'm singing this song
Is to love you
You're everywhere I go
And everybody knows
To love you
Is to be part of you
I paid for you with my tears
And swallowed my pride
Beautiful stranger...
But I'm not so I guess I'll stay
Haven't you heard?
I fell in love with a beautiful stranger
My heart was dancing all over the place
I'd like to change my point of view
If I could just forget about you
Is to love you
You're everywhere I go
And everybody knows
And my world came tumbling down
You're the devil in disguise
That's why I'm singing this song to you
Is to love you
You're everywhere I go
And everybody knows
And swallowed my pride
Beautiful stranger...
I have no idea what the guy's name is-but she had like a triangle(no not threesome shocking I know). Betwixt herself, him and Guy Ritchie. She was preggers by this guy and he actually treated her bad! GASP. Guy Ritchie apparently knock the guy out @ a party even. The song is about him...it's one of favorites of hers.
I forgot to add when I posted that ages ago-that I met my own "Beautiful Stranger" once. ;)

"To know you is to love you".I've been told that many times before. lol One of the few songs from her that I like very much. :)
This is the only Madonna song I've truly loved since "Vogue," although I am a big fan of almost everything from her first three albums. I think "Beautiful Stranger" has a unique sound in Madonna's catalog.
I relate rather well to this song...addicted to someone you dont know very well.
'I've had the taste for danger' links the last line of the first stansa to the last of the second stansa. this mehod of rhyming is reminiscent of the work of alfred lord tennyson. particularly his work 'the lady of chalotte'. this song is much the same. 'the lady of chalotte' fell in love with a beutiful sttranger. he was called sire lancelott.
i think its profound that maddona links such a great piece of romantic poetry to her song. its realy postmoddern. i think this demmonstrates the fact that she has hiden depths and isn't a thoughtless corpulent hag as many have suggested.
I recall reading somewhere that this song was inspired by Andy Bird, one of Madonna's boyfriends in between Carlos Leon and Guy Ritchie. The line "I paid for you with tears / and swallowed all my pride" was particularly meant about him, I believe.
In terms of meaning/interpretation, this is my favorite of Madonna's songs. I heard an interview w/ her when this song was originally released and she stated it's about a breakup...how the person you thought you knew so well during the relationship turns out to just be a beautiful stranger by the end. They look the same -- "beautiful" -- but you no longer know them by the time of the breakup -- "stranger." I relate to this song every time I go through a breakup, whether romantic or just friendship. People become such "strangers" when it's time to sever ties.
I love this song. It's so retro, like britpop retro. And plus it really speaks to me. I am more likely to fall in love with someone I don't know that well.
this song makes me happy
I can't really relate to this being in love with someone U don't really know thang, but anyways this sound rocks!
