In the Gold Dust Rush Lyrics

I weigh my life and it's got me old fool gold (x3)
(x2)

In the gold dust rush I can only genuflect (x3)

In the gold dust rush (x2)

Honey (her knee) is horrible
(In the gold dust rush)
There's locusts in (hidden) there
She's got the old fool gold
(x2)

(In the gold dust rush)
She's got the old fool gold

I weigh my life and it's got me old fool gold
In the gold dust rush I can only genuflect
I weigh my life and it's got me old fool gold
(x2)

In the gold dust rush (x2)

Honey (her knee) is horrible
(In the gold dust rush)
There's locusts in (hidden) there
She's got the old fool gold
(x2)

Cover art for In the Gold Dust Rush lyrics by Cocteau Twins

It deserves comment like all their songs do, but to comment on their lyrics is to engage in pure folly.

This song deserves at least one comment. Cocteau Twins are very under-rated.

Does it have something to do with Simple Minds' 1982 album "New Gold Dream?" Does it have to do with thinking you one thing finding out you another? Is it about going to church and genuflecting to an alter of fool's gold?

Whatever it is it's one of the best songs I've ever heard.
