Snowblind Lyrics

What you get and what you see
Things that don't come easily
Feeling happy in my vein
Icicles within my brain (cocaine)

Something blowing in my head
Winter's ice, it soon will spread
Death would freeze my very soul
Makes me happy, makes me cold

My eyes are blind but I can see
The snowflakes glisten on the tree
The sun no longer sets me free
I feel the snow flakes freezing me

Let the winter sun shine on
Let me feel the frost of dawn
Fill my dreams with flakes of snow
Soon I'll feel the chilling glow

Don't you think I know what I'm doing
Don't tell me that it's doing me wrong
You're the one who's really the loser
This is where I feel I belong

Crystal world with winter flowers
Turns my day to frozen hours
Lying snowblind in the sun
Will my ice age ever come?

The song is about cocaine.

@TheGodThatFailed Really? Why are all songs about drugs with us coke heads?

Everyone should stop covering Sabbath, because no one can match the primal force and raw energy of these motherfuckers!

THIS ISNT ABOUT HOW SYSTEM OF A DOWN SUCKS!!!!!(Which they don't). This is supposed to be interpretations.

This song is about the ecstacy of a cocaine high, and being in denial of it's decadent effects.

The solo at the end is trance inducing.

Well, as someone who's done his share of coke (if you get the opportunity, pass on that), I can tell you that there's almost a literal translation here. After a long night of partying and doing coke, smoking Marlboros and weed, and drinking, by dawn your nose and eyes are kind of burning...really irritated. Your eyes are irritated like you've been staring at a computer screen all day and your nose is burning like you've been breathing lots of cold, dry air (what the coke is cut with can have a lot to do with it, but I'm pretty sure it's mainly a result of the highly damaging drug you've been snorting into your brain all night).

Anyways, it's one of my favorite Sabbath songs. I don't care much for SOAD's cover, and Zakk Wylde's cover, although awesome, isn't close to as good as Sabbath's (it sounds the same, yet different, but it's very good as far as covers are concerned...you can find it on the bonus disc of Live Brewtality album and I think it's on the Kings of Damnation compilation).

When someone is "snowblind", it means that they're really fucked on coke.

actually being snowblind is what happens to people who spent a long time around snow and the sun reflects off it causing eventual sight problems from the glare. http://www.allwords.com/word-snow-blind.html as far as i know it does not mean being fucked on coke they just use it as a metaphor.

Once again as with many Sabbath songs the meaning isn't just conveyed by the lyrics it's also the sounds of the instruments. Notice how it slows down on the third verse and then speeds up faster than normal for the fifth I think the changes in tempo are supposed to indicate the feelings of a cocaine addict. The depression and the anger.

If you don't like SOAD'S cover of this (which I don't) check out Sleep's cover. It is so much better. They're a stoner/doom band so they get the groove right. Fuck all of those nu-metal tributes to black sabbath. Look for sabbath covers by bands who were truly inspired by black sabbath like Eyehategod, Sleep, Kyuss, the Melvins, and things of such natures

This song is about the positive and negative effects of cocaine, not just the positive effects.

iamtheowl: Been around a lot of cokeheads? The term "snowblind" has been used since the early 70s to mean someone who's wasted on coca. The usage didn't originate with sabbath.
