i love this song. maybe i'm being too literal, but i think of it as a love song from mother to child. about enjoying the time they have, the childhood before it's gone.

This is a beautiful song, but I dont believe it has to necessarily be about a mother's love for her child. I tihnk the lyrics can be applied to the love shared between a couple. Very chill, very romantic.

This song is unbelievably adorable. Yes, yes, it is.

I always imagine him in a chapel just looking to get away from problems and there's a boy who always wants to do the same. the child's eyes are so innocent and pure with diamonds for eyes. and then it peaks into metaphors and analogies that it's time for him to evaporate with the weight so heavy sometimes (on his shoulders). it's nice to just feel like there are no deadlines or time limits on anything and you could just lay there in the warm sun. and to just let your problems fade as you sail away from their presence.

I think when it says "my child" its kind of like god talking to you. I'm not exactly religious but that's how i see it. He's saying to enjoy life because you are amazing and you deserve an awesome life. "keep all your crows away. hold skinny wolves at bay" that's saying not to let anything get you down. Crows bother and destract people. skinny wolves must be hungry and want to eat you. But keep them away. "in silver piles of smiles may all your days be gold my child" have a good life. a necklace of leaves" keep your head up. saying your head should be so high that the leaves surround your neck. not literal of course. "spirits in the trees" Kind of the same. Keep your spirits high up like the tops of the trees. "and drown all the clocks 'til there's none" Take you time and enjoy life.

I want this song played at my funeral. I think that "good morning" are words of farewell as we are about to enter another phase of life.

I think that by saying "may all your days be gold, my child" the song is telling us to remember each and every day of our lives as something beautiful by using our happy memories (silver piles of smiles, which happens to be my favorite phrase) to avoid focusing on any pain or suffering (the crows and wolves) in our lives.

This song makes death feel so peaceful-- we don't die; we evaporate. I love the image of drowning clocks, like everything in this world just disappears into the depths of whatever.

I never know whether to smile or cry when I listen to this. Usually, it is both.
