Babylon Lyrics

Yeah...
In a world of hate pollution
we can't breathe anymore.
We've to leave and this time you,
the pawn, have won.
On our quest for nowhere island
we set off to the sea.
You call surrender what we call
a calm before the storm...

Pounding thoughts of home they make me know:
"I will return! I don't live my life for you,
it's too short to get burned.
Stand upright and face the wind!"

Time to go back where I belong...
No one can prevend me from
raising towers in Babylon.

You only can love me if you can convert me
to attitudes of your brain.
You blame us for doing things
that you don't know.
You tell me what you'd do if you were me but you are you and I am I
Lucky you, but this time I say: "No!"

Pounding thoughts of home they make me know: "I will return!".
I don't want to hurt you but you'll have to learn:
You are you and I am I!!!

Ooohhh...

Oh yeah...

I love this song. He doesn't want to change, and he doesn't want to prove anything special. He's perfectly content to do his own thing and go where he belongs, while allowing everyone else to do the same.

Including Babylon makes it seem religious, but this could be applied to anything: "You bame us for doing things that you don't know", like having a certain talent, and inadvertantly making others become jealous because of it.

sometimes your girl starts to ask too much from you, or wants you to change scential things about your personality...

"I don't want to hurt you but you'll have to learn: You are you and I am I!!! " "You only can love me if you can convert me to attitudes of your brain. "

I think this song is clearly about not running away. at first he ran away and now realizes he doesnt want to run so he "stand up right and face the wind" and returns to babylon even though it will be destroyed. but thats where he wants to be and he feels he belongs.

This song is talking about someone who doesn't care about the Jewish law. Babylon is known as place of deliberated sin. When Jews were at Babylon they were suffering for being away from their ground but probably there were also Jews who liked to live in Babylon and got used to a sinful way of life and forgot about God. So this guy probably wanted to be back to Babylon.
