Rich Girl Lyrics

You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
You can rely on the old man's money
You can rely on the old man's money
It's a bitch girl but it's gone too far
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Get you too far

And don't you know, don't you know
That it's wrong to take what is given you
So far gone, on your own
You can get along if you try to be strong
But you'll never be strong

'Cause

You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
You can rely on the old man's money
You can rely on the old man's money
It's a bitch girl
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Get you too far

High and dry, out of the rain
It's so easy to hurt others when you can't feel pain
And don't you know that a love can't grow
'Cause there's too much to give, 'cause you'd rather live
For the thrill of it all, oh

You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
You can rely on the old man's money
You can rely on the old man's money
It's a bitch girl and it's gone too far
'Cause you know it don't matter anyway
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Get you too far

And you say
You can rely on the old man's money
You can rely on the old man's money
You're a rich, a rich girl
Oh, you're a rich girl, rich girl yeah
Say moneybut it won't get you too far,
Oh, get ya too far

THIS IS THE COOLEST SONG IN THE WHOLE WORLD.. enough said

Cover art for Rich Girl lyrics by Hall and Oates

I heard Darryl Hall interviewed on Howard Stern, what i remember him saying was this: the song was written about a college friend of his who was a privledged son of a record company executive. apparently he totally burnt his brain out on drugs. the original title was going to be "rich boy" but Hall didn't think it sounded right so he changed it to "Rich Girl"

@firefighter7728 why does this make so much more sense with this song, i feel like rich boy could’ve added to the song

it's about hall's girlfriend's ex-boyfriend who was a really rich guy whose father owned some sort of fast food chain. as mentioned before, they changed it from rich boy to rich girl.

I sang this to my then-girlfriend when I broke up with her. Classic.

I agree with everyone. The song speaks for itself. I'm surprised at how few comment there are for all the Hall & Oates songs.

A song about a spoiled rich bitch. I think the words speak for themselves.

This is a great song for all Classic Rock collections, very often overllokes, surprised I dont see more comments here, but then again, not many folks consider it as good as it really is

I love this song!

this is the most badass song ever. it rocks. music should always be this awesome. u cant not like it. i like how dry the lyrics are, they didnt hold back, the person who this song is about would be seriously offended if they heard this but its such a happy song u almost dont notice. apparently it was originally about a boy the artists knew and it was going to be rich boy, but then they changed it to rich girl or something along those lines.
