I could feel it, see it
The spirit as it was leaving my body
No, it would not stay for a while
It turned and laughed then crawled away

So far away-I could not see that far
All those things I held so sacred
They fail me
They betray me

These pins these needles
They never leave me
This crooked cross is bleeding deeply
Let the wine fill my veins

Bring the wind to change my mind
Wash away this dirty soul
This dirty soul of mine
The curtain it slowly closes

The players how they quickly
Change around you
Not a trace, no familiar face
Only the soundtrack and the bruises we keep to ourselves

I reach out and I wait forever
I speak out my thoughts die high
My cross is crooked
My spirit is denied

Let the smoke close my eyes
See this man is waiting
In the park it's raining so hard
Wash away this soul

This dirty soul of mine
Why can't you feel me?
The world is dying
Nothing stays the same

Nothing good remains
No one ever stays
Feelings always fade away
People change lives are destroyed

I will never walk with you again
Never again will we share the days my friend

    Song Meaning

It's about how girls in this world are bitches and that the one girl he can trust is Mary Jane. If you look at the lyrics as a whole you'd see it kind of all just revolves around something like that

    Song Meaning

I'll go in more depth about it because I'm high as hell now and that's how I was when I came to my own interprrpreted meaning.

I'll start by saying that this is a sad song when it comes to the meaning, I think. It can go deeper than the lyrics show and I think it's supposed to be an anti-optimistic song to be listened to at a very anti-optimistic time (as sad songs usually go, and when yous high as a mothafucka).

The entire song is full of bad things that's happened to him. Betraying him, failing him, shit like that. Since the song is called Bitches, I assume that it's them who's causing all of this to happen to him. He's behind denied his spirit because he feels there is no perfect woman for him because they have all been bitches.

Marijuana (we'll call her Mary Jane) is the other part of the meaning. Maybe he feels that he's a broken soul with nowhere to go and that Mary Jane is the only woman to appreciate him. He feels that these bitches have scarred him. You know, more shit like that. The part where it's like "let the smoke close my eyes (somebody get me high), bring the time to change my mind" implies that Mary Jane can possibly change his view on women (as bitches).

That's basically the first part of the song, and the second part that starts like "Some say the world is dying..." is basically saying that his views haven't been changed and that he wants the memories of a dreadful life (or like some part of the past, or relationships or some shit) to just go away.

What I overall took from all this, I think it's basically saying that there is no point in being optimistic about anything because it al goes to shit anyway, so get high. To be completely more narrowed down (and shit), this song means "Don't give a fuck, and get high." When you read it that way, it don't sound so sad. hahaha

This is a badass song and the lyrics don't do it justice, you really have to hear the band to appreciate this song.'

Anyway, this song use to be one of the songs i'd listen to with my homeboy when we'd drive around getting High, and now that he's gone it's always going to remind me of him especially the end. Definitely recommend a download if you like this kind of music.

this man(jahred)such a sinner. waging himself. wanting the friends he had and the friends he lost near him and realising that it's not meant to be. let the wine soften the feeling. and while he waits forever, he will not find what he is looking for. for all these people he has lost/lost contact along the way he has lost himself as i suspect that most of them are ladies. the crooked cross being a belief in something more, but feeling so undeserved. the beauty of grace. it's about knowing you betray yourself in letting others know you. there is so much to know.... hed pe fills me with love, what does it do for you?????

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
