Come On Lyrics

I must be feeling low
I talked to god in a phonebox on my way home
I told you my answer
I left you my dreams on your answering machine

Come on
Let the spirit inside you
Don't wait to be found
Come along with my sound
Let the spirit move you
Let the waves come up
They'll fuse you
I never met no one to deny a sound

I must be going insane
I called the doctor so he can relieve my pain
He's got a little pill for me
Just a little luxury
Help me through my day

Come on
Let the spirit inside you
Don't wait to be found
Come along with our sound
Let the spirit move you
Let the waves come on confuse you
I never met no one to deny our sound

Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on...

There's only one life
There's only one life

Let it go
Let it go
Let it go

This is a big
Fuck you!
This is a big
Fuck you!
Come on!

Come on now

Cover art for Come On lyrics by Verve, The

This song makes a lot of sense...As the album progresses, the band explore more and more themes of harsh realities and missed oppertunities, but always in a fairly objective way. This, the closing track on the album, is Ashcroft's chance to let it all out. Instrumentally, this is the heaviest track on the album, and also the one with the strongest lyrics. The 'fuck you's' are the only expletives on the entire album, and as the song progesesses, you can almost feel the tension building, untill is is released in an explosion of sound in a way that only The Verve can create...Utter genius....

there's something about the juxtaposition of the religious in the beginning with talk of pills, and the ending part which is more "hardcore" if you can call it that...it seems to work really neatly, and richard ashcroft injects a certain seething anguish that i find awesome

One comment for this song? Unbelievable... It seems to have the religious thing, and then the complete opening up with the chorus. And of course, the end... amusing.

...But really, I wonder what's up with the end of the song? The very passionate F.U.'s.

Apparently those lines are sung by Liam Gallagher

To me it's Mad Richard speaking out about fame and all of the turmoil the band went through in order to make it big. In an issue of Rolling Stone, Richard is on the cover and inside, the article quotes him as saying "It's about fu**in time."

Best song ever. The passion in his voice is unbelievable.

Cover art for Come On lyrics by Verve, The

the whole "just a little luxury" thing about the pills seems very sarcastic and patronising to "the doctor", like he says it in a proper scathing tone. mint song, another verve song about absoloutely anything, everything, time, depression and euphoria
