Hangman Jury Lyrics
Me and my old lady sittin' in the shade
Talkin' 'bout the money that'a I ain't made
Singin' o boy dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track
O boy dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track
And if I could I surely would
Stand on the rock that Moses stood
Singin' O boy dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track
O boy dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track
Drank so much hooch
It made my eyes be gettin' blurry
They say I nailed her to the wall
A stitch in time don't mean a thing
No hangman jury could make me crawl
'Cause I'm a poor boy
Dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track a lack a
O boy dontcha line the track
Oh...woa oh
Whatcha do with the gun that's loaded...oohh
Shot dead when your heart exploded...oohh
Tell me baby now d-dontcha worry...oohh
Like a lyin' to the hangman jury
Ooa...woa...I swear I didn't know that '45 was loaded
In fact my memory ain't too clear
That's not to say she didn't get what she deserved
Least that's the way it looked from here
Boy when you line the track a lack a
Hey boy when you line the track a lack a
Hey boy when you line the track
Ooh, when love come tumblin' down...yeah
Ooh, when love come tumblin' down
Ooh, Let's get outa here
When love come a tumblin'
Hey hey hey hey hey
And every night she take her thing into the city
And in the morning make me beg
'Cause If I'd taken all her real titty gritty
I'd smack her right upside the head
Boy dontcha line the track a lack a
Hey boy dontcha line the track a lack a
Hey boy dontcha line the track
Ooh, when love come tumblin' down
Ooh, when love come tumblin' down
Ooh, when love comes tumblin'
Poor boy sweatin' in the hot summer night
Hangman waitin' for the early mornin' light singin'
Hey boy dontcha line the track a lack a
Hey boy dontcha line the track
Hey boy dontcha line the track a lack a
Hey boy dontcha line the track
If I could I surely would
Stand on the rock that a Moses done stood singin'

This song is about a man whose wife gets angry about his not making enough money, so, apparently, she then decides to either (a) cheat on him or (b) prostitute herself. His response is to kill her, which he feels that she deserves, which causes him to be sentenced to death by the hangman jury.
Another brilliant Aerosmith blues with Steven Tyler's harp blown front and center. The melody is based on a Leadbelly/Charley Patton/Robert Johnson-style delta blues but Joe Perry's guitar is Metal/Rock and Tyler's writing definitely is about his ongoing battle with drugs and the sad realization if he's ever gonna be sober after all-it may never happen if at all-"I Swear I Didn't know that .45 Was Loaded/In fact My Memory Ain't Too Clear!..." Harrowing Song!
I'm not sure why EVERY lyric site seems to have it wrong, but it's not "line the track". It's "lie on the track" as in lay down on the train tracks, an old timey Southern way of committing suicide. Line the track doesn't even make sense in context. Listen to the studio version with a good pair of headphones, then listen to a live version.
@FecklessCarb No you're wrong. It's because the official lyrics in the actual album/CD/cassette sleeve show that the lyric IS IN FACT "line the track." Line the track and "lie on the track" are going to easily sound the same when sung, or similar enough to not solve any debate just by listening to it.

Definitely an underrated gem, my third favorite by them.

That's just hilarious. Makes me laugh every time I hear it.
cool song... kinda has that old folk feel to it. He murdered someone and is trying to lie his way out of it in court.
great song, loved it from the first time i heard it!

Great blues style song that was a prelude to Honkin' On A Bobo.

Drank so much hooch It made my eyes be gettin' blurry They say I nailed her to the wall
and while he was in this state his wife was nagging him this made him angry so he killed her
I love it, when Steven sings this live he remakes it from
Me and my old lady sittin' in the shade Talkin' 'bout the money that'a I ain't made
to
Me and my old lady sittin' in the shade Talkin' 'bout the first time that I got laid.
