this is a great song....

the comment by shokknterror made me think. maybe cedric just didn't have lyrics or whatever, but i think the lyrics are just about how hard it can be to get some lyrics done:

"only to bark the words of so-and-so, fuck so-and-so"

dissatisfied with his lyrics

"we must die with dignity"

artistic self-criticism, if you're not satisfied you think it's the worst bullshit somebody's ever written

i could go on forever

In my opinion i think this is the best song by them

this is one great song, but i really can't figure out what it's about. does anyone have any ideas?

It's really hard to figure out a lot of the songs from Acrobatic Tenement becuase Cedric and the rest of the band were so fucking high when they recorded it. All in one night mind you. If you've ever wondered why the whole cd kind of sounds the same, well there are no distortions, no effects because they were using somebody elses equipment.

So back to the lyrics. Cedric was stoned out of his mind and didn't have any of his lyrics with him so he was trying to remember them while singing it.

I agree, i think the song speaks alot about his style of writing which is "on the roof of my mouth" and the fact that at that point in his songwriting, he was having a writers block. He is trying to channel his emotions into words through either "dancing in the bathroom stalls" or "kicking in these windows one by one" and the fact that overall, he doesnt want "paper bags hiding infantile music"

"i only colored outside the lines 'cause i got the knack stenciled teen initials that were carved on the roof of my mouth"

i thought that line is sort of sarcastic, meaning because he experienced so many bad things, lost so many friends, he's kinda used to it, so he "colors outside the lines", meaning the chalk outlines on the floor around the body when someone died... sort of ironic/tragic/sarcastic...

then "stenciled teen initials that were carved on the roof of my mouth"

for example the 2 girls that died in a car accident at the age of 17, napoleon solo is about them, so maybe he cant stop writing/singing about them, like their initials were carved on the roof of his mouth... the stencil initials might also refer to some police-document or something dealing with the accident, on which their initials are stamped ...

he was on drugs, which made it the greatest song ever

it has something to do with his old band.

fall on deaf ears was the name of his old band..

that's the only thing that jumped out at me.
