Undenied Lyrics
Your softly spoken words
Release my whole desire
Undenied
Totally
And so bare is my heart, I can't hide
And so where does my heart, belong
Beneath your tender touch
My senses can't divide
Ohh so strong
My desire
For so bare is my heart, I can't hide
And so where does my heart, belong
Now that I've found you
And seen behind those eyes
How can I
Carry on
For so bare is my heart, I can't hide
And so where does my heart, belong
Belong
Release my whole desire
Undenied
Totally
And so where does my heart, belong
My senses can't divide
Ohh so strong
My desire
And so where does my heart, belong
And seen behind those eyes
How can I
Carry on
And so where does my heart, belong

"Now that I've found you And seen behind those eyes How can I Carry on?"
Probably the most touching lyric I've ever heard/read. It's funny how much more I adored this song once I actually felt what Beth was singing. To feel vulnerable, scared, confused, obsessed, and utterly in love all at once over someone is scary.
"For so bare is my heart, I can't hide And so where does my heart, belong?"
Good shit. This song and "Roads" are my favorite Portishead tunes.
I think you can really relate to this song if you are hypersensitive (and bipolar too), it makes PERFECT sense, just exactly the way you feel.
This is my favorite song of all times... I think that Beth really puts her emotions on the line and exposes herself and her feelings. She peels all of her layers and leaves herself vulnerable because of the intensity of her emotions for this person hence the lines "For so bare is my heart, I can't hide And so where does my heart, belong." Her mention of words like "release," "undenied," and "bare" imply a feeling of weakness and vulnerability as a result of love and the state it's driven her to. The lines "now that i've found you and seen behind those eyes.. how can I carry on?" make my stomach sink because of the sadness in the tone of her voice. I think this song is absolutely perfect!
beautiful song however, since i am in love and married to my soul mate i can totatly relate to this song being only of happiness and so so much love for that person. i dedicate this song to my husband jayson! i love portishead always have since96 great music truelly talented people!
I think this song is about her trying to figure if her heart is in the the relationship or just passion. But she is too far into and after she's given herself to him and he's given himself to her how can she leave.
My favourite song by Portishead...they are so great! When you listen to this song you can almost 'see' her desire and despair of being near to this guy she sings about...She feels she cannot live anymore without him:"Now that I've found you ; And seen behind those eyes ; How can I Carry on". She exposes herself completely.
It's a really good song indeed. I think she doesn't feel happy in her relationship (?) to this guy. It sounds like as if she can't stay with him anymore because she realized the way he really thinks and behaves: :"Now that I've found you ; And seen behind those eyes ; How can I Carry on". She now completely understands what he's doing and although she loves him, she can't stand it. she wants to go on and she feels blocked and naked because of him and she doesn't know anymore where she actually belongs and where she can feel save. these are jus my thoughts about the song, and maybe i confused some things... i love this song anyway
Beatufil, and Capturing her darker side--almost cryptic, with the trip-hop style. Who can truely not love this group and their artwork.
