From Your Mouth Lyrics
Sometimes, life's not fair
I correct myself
I mean all the time
I feel like complaining
But it only bothers you
The things I do
They make your blood run cold
BRIDGE
There's a lot of things
That no one likes but
CHORUS
I want the answers now
Must be all confused somehow
Did you say what I hear about
I've heard a million things
Gossips being sent to me
I don't wanna believe it
Until I hear it
From your mouth
Tell me
Why are you friendly to my face
What I mean
Is barely nice
When I'm not around
Hear you like to put me down
Embarassment
Is what I get
BRIDGE
CHORUS X3
I correct myself
I mean all the time
I feel like complaining
But it only bothers you
The things I do
They make your blood run cold
There's a lot of things
That no one likes but
I want the answers now
Must be all confused somehow
Did you say what I hear about
I've heard a million things
Gossips being sent to me
I don't wanna believe it
Until I hear it
From your mouth
Why are you friendly to my face
What I mean
Is barely nice
When I'm not around
Hear you like to put me down
Embarassment
Is what I get

Yes god lives underwater is done. As far as the meaning; I've been looking for quite a while to see if David left anything telling us the whole story behind this song. The only thing I've found so far was an interview he did. In it he was asked about what the lyrics actually meant because the host said "they are pretty powerful lyrics." David didn't say anything but Jeff Turzo simply said, it's about a girl (we?) knew. It's unclear on if it was someone David dated or a girl who was friends with the band. But I do know that it was in fact about a girl. If I could find that clip online I would gladly post it, but I don't believe it's around. The clip was I believe from Kurt Loader in a short interview before the video was shown when it had first come out. Its was a buzz worthy video clip.
It's about a guy who's hearing that his friend's spreading lies about him. He's confronting the guy, asking him "why are you friendly to my face?" He doesn't want to think his friend's talking trash on him. "I don't wanna believe it, until I hear it from your mouth."
Does anyone knows if GLU is still existing ???
considering that David Reilly died, probably not.
k7stringsamurai, thanks so much for the story! I remember this being a buzzworthy clip as well in the launching days of MTV2 when it was just M2. Anyway, the interview story helps immensely, before I read your comment, I always figured it was about a girl, it just seemed for likely. What other targets do male songwriters really have? lol So it was nice to hear that for corroboration. I personally figure it is about a girlfriend that is cheating on him, but won't come clean about it. Denies it when he asks her, but practically everyone else in town knows it except him, and he's left in the dark for what people assume is for his best. But he's pretty certain of what's going on, only adding to the frustration in his girlfriend's dishonesty. The other, slightly dumbed down theory: She acts one way behind his back, with her girlfriends(ie, talks shit about him), but is completely different around him, in a artificial, saccharin sort of way.
