"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
Forfeit the game
Stop the talk show
Product of what
Your taught to know
Forfeit the game
'Cause tomorrow
When it's all done
You reap what you sow
You love the way I look at you
While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
You take away if I give in
My life, my pride is broken
You like to think you're never wrong
(You live what you?ve learned)
You have to act like you're someone
(You live what you?ve learned)
You want someone to hurt like you
(You live what you?ve learned)
You want to share what you've been through
(You live what you?ve learned)
You love the things I say I'll do
The way I'll hurt myself again just to get back at you
You take away when I give in
My life, my pride is broken
Chorus

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

i can clearly say that i can relate to this song with one of my ex boyfriends. what linkin park is writting about is a relationship gone.. well.. sour. i think that maybe someone has the overall power of lp's emotion's - hat no matter what, that person wins. and when lp tries to get back at them, it backfires. and it's pissing them off.. bad.
I LIKE THIS DEMO. THE LYRICS ARE PRETTY TIGHT.
Personally, I like these lyrics better than Points of Authority.
This song reminds me of me and my dad. Certain verses in this song bring upon me a de ja vu. "You want someone to hurt like you" and "You'd like to think you're never wrrong" and the one that really reminds me of my ol' man, "You wanna share what you've been through!"
who placed these lyrics here? The title is incorrect, Vertical Limit isn't what the song's called, people think it's called Vertical Limit because LP had one of their songs played in a movie called Vertical Limit. The real title of the song is 'Points of Authority Demo' Simple as that.
sorry to say shinnizlest, but the name BEFORE points of authority was vertical limit. this ones better than the other one
This song's about being pushed around by a gf/bf, I think. Having arguments about what's right in a relationship. But this is just my opinion, all songs mean something different to everyone (for ex. to me In The End is about falling in love but not being able to get to the girl. Because of personal reasons). See?
BTW I don't know which version of Points Of Authority is the official one (on my version of Hybrid Theory, there's this song). Actually, I think this version's far better. Better lyrics and rap in the bridge. Excuse me for my bad English
i prefer these lyrics to the final cut (Hybrid Theory version) of points of authority, too
I like the hybrid theory lyrics more. I think mike gets more emotional in them
This is the demo to Points of Authority, and really, I can't say whether I like the demo or the Hybrid Theory release, in the Hybrid Theory it's a little more reminiscent of Darwinian theory, and the demo is more emotional.
