The Stake Lyrics

Burnin' burnin' all you can take
Wheels are turning in the bed you make
I'll take you over, you're tied at the stake
Nobody loves you like the way I do

Light rain's over
The sun's all around
Four leaf clover
As I pull you down
I'll take you over
You're tied at the stake
Nobody loves you like the way I do
Nobody loves you like the way I do
Nobody loves you like the way I do

Ha, I think this song is about bondage. "I'll take you over," "tied at the stake." it's rough, kinky sex. And maybe the "four leaf clover" means he's "getting lucky."

I think these lyrics were simply added in so that some people wouldn't realize that it's the exact same song as Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way." I love Steve Miller Band, but this song isn't exactly the most original of tunes.

This song is about masturbation. Looking at the lyrics while noting that it does not specify on any sexual partner in particular, Miller is obviously talking to his penis. "Tied at the stake" is an easy metaphor for having fingers wrapped around it. You know how they say that you'll never love a woman as much as you love your penis? "Nobody loves you like the way I do." Point made. Bring on the waves of internet hate.

My Interpretation

@gruuuuuunge I think you’re full of shit. It’s a great song of getting down with a girl:)
