Seven Faces Lyrics
I saw them all around today
They don't stop they won't go away
They love the darkness in my eyes
Help me find a way out when I'm lost within myself
They show me everything I need
There's nothing wrong with a little greed
Never enough to satisfy
Such a driving desire that burns inside
My life came with it's own scars
I don't need you to tell me about your sorrow
I can't say I've seen it all
But I live for the things that keep me hollow
Everyday I look into the mirror
Staring back I look less familiar
I've seen all seven faces
Each one looks a lot like me
They all look like me
I never see them coming
But they show me more of myself
Drawn into the depths
I never knew existed
Launching me face first
Into the pleasures of pure lust and greed
I am becoming all things envied, I am the excess
I want it all more pain more sex more lies more of
everything
My Life came with it's own scars
I don't need you to tell me about your sorrow
I can't say I've seen it all
But I live for the things that keep me hollow
Everyday I look into the mirror
Staring back I look less familiar
I've seen all seven faces

one of my favorites on GHUA...i guess i'm alone in that assertion
hand-Ur not alone, this song is easily one of my favorites. When I figured out the lyrics it's how I felt once I got tired of the nice guy gets nothing bullshit. I found myself again and discovered that I love the evil in myself. I no longer gave a shit as to what others think of me or want. Time to take care of number one (me). To me it means stop being what everyone else wants you to be and do what makes you content and makes you yourself. Once you stop the facade, you feel free and that everyone else wishes they could achieve that state of mind. I've listen to Slayer for 17 years and they've never changed or apologized for anything. Name me any other band that's like that. Oh wait, you can't because there isn't any!!!!!!!!!1
Congrats on finding the "ultimate answer" to the "ultimate question" within the lyrics in a Slayer song.

Btw, are you a Satanist? Just asking, because that's exactly what they believe in.

to me,this song is a way of saying fuck off to anyone that comes up to you bitching about how much their opinionated-yet-assumed-as-fact"miserable" lives completely suck when they dont have the slightest idea that other people have experienced far worse ordeals in their lifetime, but nevertheless have become stronger from those experiences, and choose not to publicly display them. then a drama queen comes along and flaunts his/her petty problems looking for sympathy from others.sad, sad, sad, sad, sad.
Agreed.

The Seven Deadly Sins ... I think it's mainly about how you can't possibly punish someone for being greedy or lusting or anything, because these are all emotions that we feel everyday, that are part of our lives and that it wouldn't be human not to expereience, so all the condemnation and such from religious leaders, priests and such, is just so groundless and stupid.
Fucking love the song.
i like this song but i don't completely agree with it, because i find it to be worse for yourself to keep everything inside that troubles you, no matter how big or small - it makes you feel like shit either way..i also find it impossible to never complain if u keep everything in you'll just end up having a breakdown.. & you should be able to find comfort and support by telling at least your close friends what's up.. anyone that doesnt show any of the pain they feel is puting on a facade as well.. i don't agree with every point a band/lyricist makes just because i listen to their music and i don't think it's very smart for anyone to buy into every point every song makes just cause the music's good.
i agree with darkspot on the interpretation
I think it's about doing your own thing, and not giving a crap about worthless religious rules, or what anyone else says, for that matter. Do what's best for yourself, don't let others hold you back.
I think DarkSpot hit the nail on the head. I haven't heard Slayer mention the meanings of the song, but I do agree this song is about the 7 deadly sins. This albums blows me away!
I'll be the first to not completely agree with Darkspot. While the song certainly isn't punishing the desire to commit the seven deadly sins (and it's describing them in a very human manner), I don't think it's really supporting the desire either. It sounds to me like it's being sung/spoken from the point of view of a depressed, hurt and failed individual (possibly a drug addict) who's basically looking for serenity in things like lust and greed. Basically, he's trying to escape from reality through them. The song isn't punishing him, but it certainly isn't suggesting that he be a role model either.
One thing people need to realize when interpreting song lyrics is that the lyrics alone often don't entirely define a song's meaning. The actual tone of the music often mixes with the lyrics to paint a pretty solid image in your mind of what the song is about. Seven Faces has a very gloomy/depressive tone, suggesting (at least to me) the the song isn't quite so rosey and optimistic as "Do whatever you want and you'll be free!"
yeah i agreed to 7 deadly sins that why he has 7 sins and they look like him
