Friday's Child Lyrics

........my daughter,
take her from the water.......
I laid her down.......
For she drinks from the river,
I pray forgive her,
dont let her drown
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

Girl a string of lovers,
Found dead beneath her,
They pulled her down,
For she drinks from the river,
I pray forgive her,
Don't let her drown,
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

A prayer for the mind who's thread bare,
For those who dare to tread there,
Now the sun is gone,
Oh I pray for my daughter,
I pray support her,
Don't let her drown,
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

this is one of the most unique songs on Taxidermy... it reminds me of some story i'd heard once before, a fairytale in fact. but yes, some parts of it can be percieved as someone who is very 1) rebellious and 2) dangerous to have as company. it is consequence in many ways.

also, the term "friday's child" comes from a little rhyme about being born on various days of the week and it states that "friday's child is loving and giving"....

I think like a lot of Queen Adreena's songs it has its influences firmly rooted in corrupted fairytales. It talks about a girl, her 'daughter' who is difficult and dangerous yet who is exciting and unique company. She clearly worries about this girl, possibly her mental state, possibly just her behaviour. The girl could even be an extension of Katie Jane, sorta like her alter ego scaring her.

Well it probably isnt about this but Katie Jane apparently had a miscarriage. I dont know if its true but it was on some official site. I think its about this because of the references to her daughter and not letting her drown. She may not want to talk about it- 'for those who dare to tread there'. Maybe.

And still, no one has been able to determine the first several words of the song. To this day it drives me MAD.

I think this is my favorite Taxidermy song. It's just nice to hear Katie Jane's actual 'talking' voice, instead of the little girl singing voice we're so used to hearing (not that I hate it).

It sounds a lot like she's saying "something, take out my daughter" at the beginning, not sure what the first word is though :/ In any case, this is one funky song :)

I think what shes saying in the first line is "(well) i take out my daughter, take her from the water" ... and i think it does have to do with a miscarriage or an abortion.

Katie Jane DID have a miscarriage. She said it in a interview, the way she said it was as if she didn't care but as she has gotten older she probably does and this song is about her miscarriage. the song 'weeds' is about her being infertile so this was probably her chance to have a child and it is gone.
