Bleed Lyrics
I think her gun's
unloaded now.
I guess tomorrow
will be after all?
Who made me judge
and jury here?
It seems I'm bearing
witness to her fall.
I don't know why
she cries to me.
(she keeps her pain
as company)
'Cause it's only time
before we all must
bleed.
Mirrors of her
memory
Reflect nothing with
each word she says.
Her views have got
me spinning 'round.
I think she's burning
alters in her head.
unloaded now.
I guess tomorrow
will be after all?
Who made me judge
and jury here?
It seems I'm bearing
witness to her fall.
she cries to me.
(she keeps her pain
as company)
'Cause it's only time
before we all must
bleed.
memory
Reflect nothing with
each word she says.
Her views have got
me spinning 'round.
I think she's burning
alters in her head.

this what i herd bout this song...and i thinkt he same thing...when ed was a kid a lady came in his house and was waving a gun round saying she was gonna kill herself. and thats the motivation behind the song...i love the choras..it fits...and so does the first verse..thats if that story is true..but i guess only ed will know..
that makes perfect sense! but this song helps me through alot, and when i hear it, i realize i can just deal with it, because alot of people bleed, and its selfish for me to make a big deal out of my pain
Amazing guitar.....
I think it's saying that it's okay when we hit the point of hating life, because everyone's got to 'bleed' sooner or later...and if you hold it all in, you're going to start 'burning alters,' or in other words...go crazy.
@stixx_n_strings I know that comment was 11 years ago LOL but I pretty much agree that is the message Ed, though I have a different take on the "burning alters" metaphor/symbolism. Ed (the lead singer who wrote the song) and his brother who is also in the band, were raised in a religious family. Their father was a minister.. Taking that into consideration, along with the many other subtle Christian/religious overtones in many of their other songs, I believe it is very possible that he is saying he thinks she is blaming God for her problems....

The guitar is amazing here. I'm trying to learn it myself. I never figured out the story, besides the idea it was about a suicidal woman. It's coming clear by reading the comments above. Great song. Great CD.
hmmm, ill take a wild guess its about a suicidal woman. but collective soul is great music. alot of deep lyrics
Great song to listen to when you are down... it makes you realize you are not the only one that deals with pain and suffering..
