You Made Me Realise Lyrics
What did (you say you'd) find
Then come, come, come
Get the hell inside
You can close your eyes
Well you might as well commit suicide
Wait for me because I waited for you
No that's not what you should do
Don't hate me 'cause I don't hate you
Insane eyes
You made me realise
Something in you died
Well no, no, no, no fault of mine
Something in you died
Well no, no, no, no fault of mine
Make the (hell) out of what you can see
Maybe then you'll not hang beside me
Don't ask me 'cause I cannot see
Insane eyes
You made me realise
What did (you say you'd) find
Then come, come, come
Get the hell inside
You can close your eyes
Well you might as well commit suicide
Wait for me because I waited for you
No that's not what you should do
Don't hate me 'cause I don't know you
Insane eyes
You made me realise
Then come, come, come
Get the hell inside
You can close your eyes
Well you might as well commit suicide
No that's not what you should do
Don't hate me 'cause I don't hate you
Insane eyes
You made me realise

anyone seen this song live??, its pretty fucking...EPIC
I think its about someone with unrealistic expectations of someone else (Wait for me because I waited for you No that's not what you should do Don't hate me 'cause I don't know you) like the other person is not as deeply serious about the relationship as the other person, to the point where its quite irritating. Sorry this makes more sense in my head lol. And maybe the narrator finally realized this other person has "insane eyes" and is a bit of a stalker. eg "Maybe then you'll not hang beside me" clearly its a bit one-sided.
though the production is so dated and lo-fi, this is easily my favorite MBV song next to "soon"...mmmm so great
@atomsplitter It's not dated. It a certain aesthetic they went for based on what they had access to and it works beautifully. It's not lo-fi either. I don't think you understand what lo-fi is. They changed so as to not repeat themselves around Glider, sound wise, but Shields doesn't think this sucks. He's proud of it. It's wicked. It will never be dated anymore than Strawberry Fields Forever, or Gimme Shelter. It's what they were going for. They didn't release two EP's after Isn't Anything because they were unhappy with them. Not this.

It seems it as about a frustrating relationship, and the narrators overall cynicism toward the whole thing of how the other person completely blew it for no apparent reason, therefore they are crazy... Could literally be about someone he knew being crazy and just losing it. At least this is my interpretation.
Okay, the song is two people meeting, and the singer is confused and lost, but whatever happens, he's asking this parnter, lover, whatever, can I rely on your fidelty to see this through? I don't know which was is up right now but I love you and I think you're the key - you've made me realise what I might be capable of, what we might be capable of. And he's saying I don't what you expected to find but get inside because I think you're the key to this whole thing. Each line is contradicted, by next one, and he doesn't know which was is up and he can't guarantee anything but he's laying it all on the line because he think's she's the key and he's asking, are you in? That's what it comes down to. He's saying to Bilinda, ARE YOU IN FOR THE LONG HAUL?
They were on the verge of breaking up when Creation gave them a chance to do an EP, and they said it's not going to sound like anything else they'd done before. McGee was like fine. And so they finally had nothing to lose - having gotten nowhere over the last 4 years, and so by finally allowing their influences to show, they came up with something original, which was hinted at by songs like Strawberry Wine and She Loves You No Less after Bilinda joined which were songs finally greater than the sum of their part, but it still wasn't wholy original; it wasn't their true voice. They sort of thought of this as a spoof of Sonic Youth, but it has so much more bass presence and drive than any of those bands The Jesus and Mary Chain wouldn't catch up until Reverence. No one did anything like this with noise, rhythm, and melodies, and just allure. It's just sexy. Not exactly sure when Bilinda and Kevin became an item, but she was with that French guy when she joined six months earlier; he is the father of Toby. So this could be around when they finally go together. This song is so desperate; Bilinda was the final piece of the puzzle, so talented on her own, and his muse. He wants to know; ARE YOU IN?

The vocal harmonies on the line "you made me realise" are God
Yeah, the harmony of the chorus is killer. The microphones and the general sound of the vocals is impressive. I miss the old sound of analog shit like that being pushed to it's limits.
Amazing song through and through.
saw them just the other night i think i can say without a doubt that this is by far the greatest thing i've ever heard
I can honestly say I have no idea what this song is about. But it's still amazing. The line You Made Me Realise gives me chills. I want to see them live so bad.
This one live was amazing!
