its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard
Someone spilled blood many years ago
Someone spilled blood but do you know
That from the backwoods where the Chuck Berry's grow
Come your long tall daddies of a rock and roll
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now
Spinning' down from the clouds Like a tornado
Spinnin' out of control like a psychedelic soul
With a rhythm hittin' harder than Larry Holmes
Come your long tall daddies of rock and roll
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now (yeah)
Oh well Mr. Uplift Mofo my man Bo Diddley hit sippin' a bottle of nickle ripple
Play the lickity split finger licking licks for all you wicked city slick chicks
And all you nitty gritty hick we'll make your nipples ripple
Make you wanna dip your dipple make you wanna soak your hickory stick, that's rigth
Because my man has a grip on it and I do mean on it
Which brings to mind a very sinister minister kind of guy
A man named Little Richard who was born to make them bitches stir
That's right he'll make the sweet substance drip from the middle of your hillbilly lips
And like the farmer milk his cow the howling wolf will howl
And since times does allow, you all can take me to your backwoods now, yo slim
(Take me to your backwoods now) take me to your backwoods
Someone spilled blood but do you know
That from the backwoods where the Chuck Berry's grow
Come your long tall daddies of a rock and roll
Take me to your backwoods now
Take me to your backwoods now
Spinning' down from the clouds Like a tornado

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
nirvana and chili pepers are uncomparable dude. two of the very best at two very different genres. they didnt play come as you are to mock nirvana they respected nirvanas music and the bands were both good friends. i think they toured together and thats why tearjerker is a tribute to cobain.
As far as I know, the term "Backwoods" means a place that's out of the way...middle of nowhere if you will. I think it's just gettin' the message across that most of the big artists - Chuck Berry, Little Richard - are from the less talked about, out of the way places; this is my best guess, I haven't actually been bothered to look up where the mentioned artists are from, but feel free to ;)
This song is about taking it all back to the roots of rock and roll, the unspoilt places where those great names come from. Apparently, it was inspired by some fat-cat producer who wanted them to just play straight forward, Chuck Berry style rock and roll, to take it back to their roots. Obviously, they weren't keen on that idea, and he never became their producer, but this song is the love-child of the meeting.
@RJCallinan That "fat-cat producer" was Malcolm McLaren, the same guy who managed and manufactured the Sex Pistols. But yeah, definitely glad they didn't listen to him.
the real great guitar players have soul, they are not sell outs
they come from off the beaten path, where they home in on their sound
while the mediocre are trying to dominate scenes and grab the money the long tall daddies are in the backwoods gripping the 'git with psychedelic soul.
this song is about the greatness of being real
i am not ashamed that i was into the RHCP before success spoiled 'em.
fuck dave
this song is about how dave navarro murdered hillel slovak with satanic magic
oh i love this song, its strong. i have this song in live, and in the beginnig they starts to play "Come as you are" Nirvana, and then bout 20 seconds the guitar starts to rock you.
awsome song dont know what exactly its all about but i have the backwood could be the deep felling traped inside of a person and he is just saying take me to those places..
iamyouareme... have you even heard of any of the people anthony's singing about in here? Larry Holmes, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard... these people should ring a bell... That's the point. I suggest you search for them under "artists."
About the roots of Rock 'n' Roll, Says Anthony Kiedis.
One of my favorite songs by the Chili Peppers. It's obviously about the roots of Rock 'N' Roll, as butterfleafrog said.
