This song as far as i understood, is about a man who is trying to get to someone desperately, someone who has been hurt in the past and now is shielding himself from affection and love because of the fear of being hurt again or something like this. The narrator is determine to overcome the shields and get to this person. This is his mission.

Nah, it was used for the MI 2 soundtrack and renamed into Mission 2000. But it was not written for the movie.

"And I have nothing, but then the have is not as good as the want" One of my favourite lines ever. Life is all about the want, it's what we strive for.

He wants everything to happen. But is still scared of it actually happening. Some might say 'I love you, but I'm afraid to love you' - JB.

Like it was said before this song was not written for a movie. I really think this song is about losing your virginity. Its writtin from the perspective of the person that is going to take someones virginity.

Young girls are usually taught that thier body is a temple. They need to guard and protect thier temple. The first sexual experience is generally though to be an emotiional experience for a woman and more of a physical experience for a man. That would explain the womans guarded heart and the man knowing he would be tearing down her temple

"I'm going to dive through your crying and sleep in your hair Rise from your ashes and kneel in your prayers Tear all your temples down"

If you think of the song from that perspective you can see how the other lines fit. The crying, the calm, the release, the praying etc. Just my take on it though.

not really a complete interpretation but i think of it like this: usually a mission trip refers to people going around trying to convert others to a certain religion. however the narrator's mission is "to tear all your temples down." in other words, their mission is the exact opposite of what a mission in a religious sense should be. a religious view is merely one interpretation. there are definately other references to religion or faith in the song but i think the contradiction in those few lines is very interesting.

I dont want to comment on this song because wasnt it written for the mission impossible soundtrack?

I think this is quite an angry song. To me the ones he is angry with is us, his fans. Or at least a certain majority of his fans.

"Pulled through you and drowning in your swirl" "Circling infolding in your will" - He's being pulled by us feels like he being forced into something that we want from him.

"I'm going to glide on the winds of your breathing and alight on your guarded heart." He is will never fully be inside your heart, because it is guarded by what you want from him. Notice how he says 'I will alite on your guarded heart' and not 'in your guarded heart'.

"I'm gonna tear all our temples down. I'm on a mission now" - It could mean a number of things. Firstly he could be warning us that admiration of rockstars block us from what we should really care about, therefore people like him destroy our personal passions and individualism. Secondly it could mean that he is fed up with what he is doing so is going to smash our expectations of him and start doing what he wants instead.

"Smoldering down inside your mood" - He could be saying he is being destroyed by our happiness and need for what he is currently doing.

"Slithering and fanning in your eyes" - He warns us that his stage image is sly and is something good in disguise (slithering), creating a sensation in our eyes.

"I'm going to dive through your crying and sleep in your hair." - He seems to be saying that he will thrive in our crying (chanting for him at concerts), yet sleep/ live in the dirt we leave after we go from the concerts.

"Rise from your ashes and kneel in your prayers" - He could be saying that he thinks we are destroyed as people (ashes), with no individualism. Yet he feels like he has to rise up for this exploitation and live up to our prayers (wants).

"Writhe in your calm and provide your release" - He thinks we are addicted to the rockstar lifestyle and feels he is in some way a drug, providing us with relief. He feels writhed for this and so feels guilty or unhappy with the situation.

"Weave into your wanting and needing and reside in the heart of your strongest beliefs" - He feels he has to bend to suit us. He seems to wish he didn't have to, because he mentions that only we are the ones that want and need it. Not mentioning him. He is trapped by our beliefs of what he should be.

"And I have nothing, but then the have is not as good as the want." - If he is on a mission to destroy our expectation and escape us, he will have nothing. But he's saying its better to have nothing than have to provide for our 'want' of something he is not.
