One Year Later Lyrics

Wandering the K-10 As anniversaries end,
Pondering events that brought us here.
If anyone remember when Around the world and back again
Was a dream not quite so clear?
Overwhelms Over the hills and away Was not a mistake.
Did that straight and narrow,
Nailed self-righteous arrow Get to be so decadent?
Could you trade your lessons To have grown up in the process?
Remarks never relent.
Learned by your examples
And we learned by your mistakes.
Argue our positions, It’s a decision that we have to make.
It’s not a mistake If we had known What we know now…
One year later, we’d still be around.
Got your full attention Over hours of speculation,
Don’t you know who knows…? I know.
Finally make decisions? Finally work it out?
Finally let it go?
We’re not running backwards.
Don’t you know, That we love reunion shows.
This is not a swan song… But it goes…
If we had known what we know now…
One year later, we’d still be around.
If we had known what we know now…
One year later, we’d still be around,
around, around.

Usually I'm pretty good at interpreting songs but this one has got me scratchin my head. Maybe I'm looking for something too deep...maybe it's just saying we grow too old to fast and get wise too slow, "If we had known what we know now…" Anyway, this song is still really good, even if I don't know what its about. The Get Up Kids are really cool.

I think it's just about looking back on the past few years and seeing how the band has evolved, and of course how relationships have come and gone.

'dont you know.. that we love reunion shows!' for some reason, that line always hits me :) TGUK got me into emo, too.. with 'i'll catch you'.. but for some reason, i like 'something to write home about' less as time goes on.. eudora and on a wire are -permanently- in my cd changer, tho

Well I'm gonna comment this song again because I fell like it. HeHe. Well this is the first song that brought me to liking this band in the first place and I think that this song is still one of my favorites that they sing. I just think that this song is really good and I don't think that it will ever get old in my littleworld of mine. I think that the Get Up Kids are a good band. They use to be one of my favorites until I descover Emo which I think is way betta! Who cares though?!¿;) ~aMbEr*

First of all, this is my absolute fav GUK song (if anyone cares hehehe)... I think it's about the simple fact in life that where decisions are taken, mistakes are made. this does however NOT mean your wrong... If you'd known what would happen before, of course you'd make a different decision, but don't be afraid to choose. in the end you can work it out with the people that really matter and have a "reunion show"...at least that's what I think he's trying to say

I think this song is about a relationship that actually managed to last thru a year or more, and looking back at all the troubles they've had, its amazing they're still around, and if they had known the problems they would have had, would they still have stuck it out like they did. Very nice song, I downloaded it after drenching myself with On A Wire, so I had lost the feeling of the old songs.
