Safe In New York City Lyrics
Check out the high spots, the lay of the land
We don't need a rocket or a big limousine
Ooh, come on over, baby, and I'll make you obscene
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
Don't mess with this place, it'll eat you alive, yeah
Got a lip smacking honey to suck out the jam
On top of the world ma, ready to slam
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
Take a look at that thing in the tight-ass jeans
Coming your way now, you may be in luck
Don't you fret boy, she's ready to buck
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
I feel safe in New York City
New York, New York, New York
I feel safe in a cage in New York City
Throw away the key
Safe in a CAGE in New York City...
Maybe that's part of the irony of which AC/DC is known for putting in some of its songs.
this single was released a while before 9/11. but as soon and 9/11 took place, all of the radio stations immediately(sp?) stopped playing this song
Sounds like to me the boys had fun recording the the abum in New York and being there for a longer time than a tour stop, they were able to hang out and meet fans and stuff. Maybe they're trying to despel the "you go to NY you get shot" train of thought. Just a thought. I don't get what the cage is referencing though. I heard of NY being refered to as the big apple, but a cage? Maybe from a movie or something or that irony thing baller was speaking of.
The band said this song was originally a bit of taking the piss at former New York mayor Rudy Gulliani's "new" safe and clean New York City. Angus said that New York has always been an unpredictable city, "a place where you can never guess what's going to happen next." In the post 9/11 era, obviously the meaning of the song could be given a new direction.
@GiveMeHam sounds pretty good interpretation to me

No... I don't feel safe in NYC.....
yeah....safe in nyc....all ya need is a gun and a bullet proof vest
A bullet-proof vest will not stop rifle bulllets, however a .44 Magnum will push the front of the vest through to the back and weld the front and back together, right on a person. I would feel safer without the vest :)
And with a 12 gauge loadeeed with 00-Buck.
