Gimme a Bullet Lyrics
She had the word
Had the way
The way of letting me know
She knew the game
Called the play
Oh she hit me low
She said, "Now you go your way
I'll go mine
And that's a start"
Doctor, doctor
Ain't there no cure
For the pain in my heart
[Chorus]
Gimme a bullet to bite on
Something to chew
Gimme a bullet to bite on
And I'll make believe
I'll make believe it's you
Don't need no drink
Don't need no drug
Don't need no sympathy
Sooner or later
Send me a bill
For what she's doing to me
Operator
Long distance lips
On the telephone
Come tomorrow
Come to grips
With bein' all alone
[Chorus]
Bullet to bite on
Had the way
The way of letting me know
She knew the game
Called the play
Oh she hit me low
She said, "Now you go your way
I'll go mine
And that's a start"
Doctor, doctor
Ain't there no cure
For the pain in my heart
Gimme a bullet to bite on
Something to chew
Gimme a bullet to bite on
And I'll make believe
I'll make believe it's you
Don't need no drug
Don't need no sympathy
Sooner or later
Send me a bill
For what she's doing to me
Operator
Long distance lips
On the telephone
Come tomorrow
Come to grips
With bein' all alone

Okay, from my viewpoint, he was trying to get it on with a women, but she knew he was and kicked him in the nuts and ran off.
O my God!
Where are the Rock and Roll fans?
I'd have to say this is the most underrated true rocker of all time.
Certainly in the class of any great rock and roll song.
What is tougher to bite on than a Bullet? That sums up Bon's pain from losing the girl. A VERY under-rated lyricist.
Yes! And 'Big balls' is all the proof you need.

yeah he is a underrated lyricist. My 2nd favorite lyricist. AC/DC isn't as good without Bon, but Brian still rocks
The song is about a bad breakup "She said, "Now you go your way / I'll go mine /And that's a start"".
It's about depression "Doctor, doctor / Ain't no cure / For the pain in my heart".
It's about suicide "Gimme a bullet to bite on". The other songs on Powerage are all about drugs, depression, poverty, and suicide.
Yet another of Bon's reference to gambling "She knew the game / Called the play / Oh she hit me low". Life is a gamble. Ever hear the line "I'm a wheeler / I'm a dealer." More gambling.
Underrated? I don't think so. By whose rating system? If you think Bon is a great lyricist, you should express that. Saying that he's underrated is expressing what others think about him, not what you think. I think Bon's lyrics are descriptive and concise. They really put his feelings about life right out there for the world to see. In that regard, he was a great lyricist.

seriously good comment. it doesn't have to be complicated to be great. but it does require meaning. he told it straight.

this is by FAR my favorite ac/dc record. and i love many of the others. this one just seemed to be so genuine.

this is a simple song about heartbreak after a relationship with a very danceable beat for ac/dc
the person yo said it was about suicide is way off
there is no acdc song about depression ever
they are one of the great rnr bands that were light hearted like rock in roll is meant tobe
So, What if I was to submit these lyrics from memory?? Where's the bloody copyright infringement there?
It's about a relationship of a musician. She knew that this meant he would be around and on tour and not at home ("she knew the game"). He's about to go on tour ("you go your way") so the relationship is over. On Tour he wants her with him and neither booze nor drugs of sympathies help him get over her. So he calls her ("long distance lips") and cannot wait to see her again.
