Come To Silver Lyrics

Come to silver
Come to gold
Come do any old thing
Sell your body and soul

Make you kill a man
Ruin your soul
Come to silver
Come to gold

Come to silver
Just as hard as you can
Come to do anything
For life of sin

You can have everything
Big house up on a hill
Come to silver
Come to kill

Come downhearted
Come to gold

It'll make you lose your way
Turn your heart so cold
Steal the wife of another man
Let money buy her love
Gonna be some hard time
When you come to gold

If you come to silver
If you come to gold
Hope that you're happy
With the life you've sown

Coulda had everything
But you didn't want to know
You had to come to silver
You had to come to gold

No, not really. It's more about ruining a life to cheating. I think the lyrics are wrong, too. Because here's what I personally hear:

Come to silver Come to gold

Come to do any old thing Sell ye body and soul

Make you kill a man It'll ruin your soul

Come to silver Come to gold

Come to silver Just as hard as you can

Come to do anything For a life of sin

You can have everything Big house up on a hill

Come to silver Come to kill

Come to heartache Come to gold

It'll make you loose your way Turn your heart to cold

Steal the wife of another man Let money buy her love

Gonna be some hard time When you come to gold

If you come to silver Or come to gold I hope that you're happy With the life you sold

Coulda had everything But you didn't want to know

How to come to silver Had to come to gold

Welcome to gold Welcome to gold Welcome to gold

So to me it seems like he's saying having silver is the best. It's still a life of sin, but you have what you need, a house, a wife, a life...

Then coming to gold is when you ultimately ruin yourself. You cheat on that wife you sinned to make so happy, you also steal the wife of the man who loves the woman you're cheating on your own wife with. But in gold, you have to buy her love, when in silver, you had the unending love of real love, not a fake money-hungry love. But it's too late, becuase your wife finds out, and the silver is gone forever, and you're left with gold.

Still, a very beautiful song. Danzig is the man...zig.
