I'm in Love with a Girl Lyrics
I'm in love with a girl
Finest girl in the world
I didn't know I could feel this way
Think about her all the time
Always on my mind
I didn't know about love
All that a man should do is true
I'm in love with a girl
Finest girl in the world
I didn't know this could happen to me
Finest girl in the world
I didn't know I could feel this way
Always on my mind
I didn't know about love
Finest girl in the world
I didn't know this could happen to me

It's an interesting ending to Radio City. I think I read this on allmusicguide.com, but I still think it was very interesting. Almost all of the songs on Radio City (which were written by Chilton, save for Way out West and parts of two others) are confused and strained... Chilton doesn't know how he feels, or is torn up about something. Look at bAck of a Car, September Gurls, Daisy Glaze, etc. When you keep that in mind, the deceptivly simple lines "I didn't know I could feel this way" and such have new meaning, because you get a better perspective on how he's felt about other girls and other relationships. Some of that is lost as a stand alone song, but it's still simple and sweet. I'm trying to learn to play it, but I have no musical talent.
Previous comments are great. Sometimes you might asked: “How do you know when you are really in love?”. I think the best answer could be to say go listen to this song. A real love is simple and blissful… and Alex Chilton tells it like it is.
I think this song is referenced in the Replacements' song "Alex Chilton"
"'I'm in love', what's that song? I'm in love with that song"
This song is a simplistic ode to love. Sometimes everything is terrible but every once in awhile you see everything completely clearly. Alex Chilton was describing the kind of girl that makes you want to be a better person. This is a great way to end an album.
This song is very simple, but it's also a bit eerie. Maybe it's just the way Alex Chilton's voice sounds. It is a wonderful little song though.
First off, I'm In Love With This Song. I've been getting really into old 70s rock like Television, The Modern Lovers, Jonathan Richman, and of course VU. I really wanted to hear a good love song from this era and genre and found Big Star to be contemporaries to Tele and The Modern Lovers, so I downloaded Radio City. This song played and it hit me like an arrow, It was just what I was looking for to hear.
This song is so pure and lovely and full of passion. He is singing about finding love and how unbelievable it is to him the feelings, being with this girl, he feels lucky and thankful.
The girl makes him want to be a better man ( All that a man should do, is true)
I will sing this song to her.
