Way Out West Lyrics
She's a schemer and she makes me mad
But I love her alot, those lonely nights
I was in a big room, playing my things
Oh, I wish you were here, she can be so kind
When she's not trying to hide
She Tries not to love me but she knows she can't
And why don't you come on back
From way out west
And love me, we can work out the rest
She thinks she's a mystery to all
But I know what's behind those eyes
Sometimes, I think she'll make me forget
What I need most to remember
And then I'll slip on back
Even if they say it's better
But I love her alot, those lonely nights
I was in a big room, playing my things
Oh, I wish you were here, she can be so kind
When she's not trying to hide
She Tries not to love me but she knows she can't
From way out west
And love me, we can work out the rest
But I know what's behind those eyes
Sometimes, I think she'll make me forget
What I need most to remember
And then I'll slip on back
Even if they say it's better

I like this song. An overlooked song by an overlooked band, I'd say. Written and sung by the bass player Andy Hummel, I believe. A sweet song about a girl who's... I guess a little confused. She's gone "way out west," perhaps literally, but it could well be figurative. I think most of the song is somewhat obvious, but the last two lines are a little vague. I think what it means is that he keeps falling for her over and over, even though his friends say it's better when he doesn't. What he needs most to remember... maybe that he loves her? But she hurts him sometimes, so he forgets for a little while. Just some thoughts of mine.
