In The Street Lyrics
Hanging out, down the street
The same old thing we did last week
Not a thing to do, but talk to you
Steal your car, and bring it down
Pick me up, we'll drive around
Wish we had a joint so bad
Bust a street light
Out past midnight
The same old thing we did last week
Not a thing to do, but talk to you
Pick me up, we'll drive around
Wish we had a joint so bad
Out past midnight

another reason why it's criminal that big star is largely overlooked... you may recognize this song, in a different incarnation, as the theme from "that '70s show." (look in the credits, something like "based on IN THE STREET by chris bell and alex chilton...") result: many will go through life believing that "that '70s song" as it is now known, is a cheap trick song... i am here to set the record straight.
haha, I had no idea it was Cheap Trick in the theme song. I always thought it was just a remake for the show. Good thing you were here to set the record straight. Now all seven people in the world who will ever read it will know.

I'll confess, That 70's Show was the first place I heard it, but came searching for it when I heard it was a remake. Man, the second chorus woulda fit that show so well.
Yeah, I like this version a lot more than any of the covers
i think the second chorus was obviously taken out of the 70's show theme song because no TV network is going to air a theme song promoting pot. it is stupid since the show has tons of scenes where they are smoking it, even though they don't actually show it
great song
this song is total pwnage compared to the cheap trick version. and that's coming from someone who does like cheap trick.
Everyone who's ever heard the Big Star version is probably going to favor it over the Cheap Trick version, because lets remember: The story of Big Star's life was making undeniably fantastic music and being completely ignored by the populous.
Real good things in life have been always for few people. We are just a few able to enjoy Big Star and other top acts unknown as Nick Drake and others
