El Tango de Roxanne Lyrics
Roxanne,
You don't have to put on that red light.
Walk the streets for money,
You don't care if it's wrong or if it is right.
Roxanne,
You don't have to wear that dress tonight.
Roxanne,
You don't have to sell your body to the night.
His eyes upon your face.
His hand upon your hand.
His lips caress your skin.
It's more than I can stand.
(Roxanne interwoven)
Why does my heart cry,
Feelings I can't fight,
Your free to leave
but just don't decieve me
and please believe me when I say
I love you.
(Repeat)
You don't have to put on that red light.
Walk the streets for money,
You don't care if it's wrong or if it is right.
Roxanne,
You don't have to wear that dress tonight.
Roxanne,
You don't have to sell your body to the night.
His hand upon your hand.
His lips caress your skin.
It's more than I can stand.
(Roxanne interwoven)
Why does my heart cry,
Feelings I can't fight,
Your free to leave
but just don't decieve me
and please believe me when I say
I love you.

This song was just so amazing I love every song in this movie, but when I'm done watching the movie My mind always goes back to this song, then I go listen to it on the CD and it strikes me the same way every time I here it. That tango beat mixed with that haunting theme Ewan Mcgregor (Christian) sings, and the lyrics are amazing. I love this song, and this movie.
have you heard this song? it's got the coolest beat.. and ewan mcgregor's and the other dude's voice are so contrasting.. too cool
Ya, this is an awesome song. It really sets the mood for that scene w/ the tango and Nicole Kidman w/ the Duke. It makes it really intense. Are there anymore Moulin Rouge lyrics besides this and the other one?
i love this movie. i think i will add some because i know all the songs off by heart, and i've only seen the movie twice. Arn't I a loser? to answer your question, i think their are three. This part of the movie is so tense, and it's this whole ill fated lovers part, and the song just blends right in.
there are two cds out now. the first one is pretty much music taken directly from the movie, like the roxanne scene. the second has some remixes and instrumentals. its alright if you love the movie, as i do, but otherwise you probably wouldnt like it.
roxanne is so intense and all the strings and brilliant voices build up to such a well-fitting climax. Its so powerful, i'm even considering using it for my dance GCSE final piece because its just perfect for a complex but effective piece that i have NO idea how i'll get MY stuff to live up to the music. And of course the dancing in the film is amazing!! i would have killed to work on that film!! lol. seriously i love musicals n moulin rouge is a brilliant one. x
all i have to say is WOW...i mean...who would have thought they could have taken an old song by the Police and made it so intense. It draws you in. It's one of those songs that you can listen to OVER AND OVER again and not get sick of. It's absolutly amazing and Ewan McGregor has the most awesome voice in the world. He definatly should have gotten WAY more credit for this ovie. Nicole Kidman is great but i think he was the real star. Nothing but good things to say about this song!
Yeah I agree with the rest of you guys. Intense. Good word to describe it. I really like how they kept it true to the original, and yet made it different and unique in its own way.
I think that this song is really INTENSE ´coz you can feel the pain that it´s having Ewan (Christian) when he felt jealous avuot the duke I mean every song in tihs movie are amazing, but Roxanne it´s one of the most inytense in this movie
the tango theme makes you want to listen up and get serious, and it's spicy. .....it's a good song for the movie and it adds some spice to it it matches perfectly w/ the scenes too! SMILE!! MWA
