wow.. this is such a sad song.. its one of the most powerful songs about suicide.. i haven't figured out if its suicide of a mental, physical, or of the relationship..
misfitgirl i don't think this song has to do with suicide, to me it sounds as though he is telling someone younger that he's leaving and telling them that they should live their life. but i dunno it's just my opinion
Great song, but I don't really understand it...=)
Chris Broach wrote this song about his six year old son. He felt he couldn't give his son everything he wanted to give him. "I wish I had more to leave you". The last few lines explain it all though, that Chris will be there for his son throughout the years and offer him advice. The verse where he talks about being said still confuses me though. I think his wifes name is Amy, and maybe they got divorced. I don't really know, but I do know this is about his son.
I definately have to disagree with the suicide point of view. Whatever this song is about, its encouraging with the line "you make me know i've got a lot to live for". Just my two cents.
to me this song is about the end of a relationship, when you're trying to hold on to anything you can, and at the same time, being realistic about what's about to happen... the idea of "staying six" is just reflecting back to innocense and the simplicity of life, without the pain associated with break-ups
