Chinese Takeaway Lyrics
This song is about a struggle to find a place to eat but then finds the chinese place
This song is very complex metaphore about dreams
Fisrtly you need to find out what you really want from life. Fish, Chips, Burgers or Chinese? What's going to make you happy?
Then when you realise what you're after you need to go out and get it.
But is that what you really wanted?
Gravejr - so true >_
Gravejr, Amazing. Would've NEVER thought about it that way.
fuckin A Gråvejr
brilliant.
This is another great Adicts song... Just like all of them. But this one is the best. Gravejr pretty much explained it the right way so Im not gonna add on to it
i absolutely love this metaphor!! the chinese takeaway represents something lacking of grandeur and all the hype blah blah: there's "No television, no competition" for chinese unlike of all the burger places. You tried out all these other choices that were the shit but then u realized that u needed something different, simple, lacking of glitz and glamor- a chinese takeaway! However, ur still unsure of ur choice but u still go ahead with the choice u made and "pick a number". Hopefully the chinese takewawy is the best you've ever tasted in your life, haha
i couldnt get this tune outta my head for a few days!
i would have never thought of it that way, gravejr. i always thought it was just a kind of silly song about chinese food. but i think you're absolutely right.
It is a decline of the "popular hyped up British delicacies/indulgences".
Decline- "Didn't have a long stop" "Didn't like their faces" British- Fish & Chips (sometimes burgers) Mainstream-"Television" & "Competition"
In contrast, the "Chinese take away" is portrayed with positive connotations.
I think it means that life is random. In the end, he rejects the mundane and obvious and just picks a meal number from the restaurant (without any forethought or planning) and hopes it works out.
I would also say that he's clear on what he doesn't want in life. What he actually wants is unclear.
