Burn Lyrics
This ember burns down low
And with my face aglow
You are all I know
Set this place on fire
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
Drawing ever near
My cause revealed as clear
I burn for you here
Set this place on fire
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
With every trailing plume,
Know it bears me home
I would give it all…
Set this place on fire
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
With every trailing plume,
Know it bears me home
Let it burn...
And with my face aglow
You are all I know
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
My cause revealed as clear
I burn for you here
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
With every trailing plume,
Know it bears me home
Let the flames rise higher
As they reach the ceiling
At your feet I'm kneeling
With every trailing plume,
Know it bears me home

I love this song. The acoustic version is great. Anywho- I think that this song is about total and utter devotion. He knows nothing and noone other than his significant other, and he'd gladly let his entire life go up in smoke [no pun intended] if he could only have her love. Perhaps he thinks by sacrificing his entire life (letting it burn), he'll get her approval. I know how he feels, I've felt the same way for this guy... But compromising yourself is one of the worst things that you can do.
I'm a christian so many of the things I see and hear I associate with christianity. I don't know if mad at gravity are christians, but I believe whether unentional or not the words of this song are. I was watching reign of fire at the movies and I heard this song after the movie and it made me think they were a christian band kind of like P.O.D. have many songs in movies these days, but when I looked up info on them I didn't see any signs of that being true I still believe the lyrics are christian in nature, even though my husband is doubtful. Anyway I love the song christian lyrics or not, I can think whatever I want, but I know I won't be the only one.
Mad @ Gravity's not a christian band kidn1. But their lyrics are nicely said. This song thou does describe how i feel about my girl freind and i would do anything for her.
I can see where you all would say it means something about devotion and love. That's what I first thought it meant too. Then I began to think that maybe it means he doesn't like who he is and wants to change. When he says "These embers burn down low" he may mean that his 'true' him is trying to get out. And when the lyrics "At your feet I'm kneeling" are there maybe it's meant as he's saddened in a way to see that part of him go. For my last example, "With every trailing plume, know it bears me home" could mean that as the masked him burns the true him begins to show, or come home, to where people may see him.
nah, this song will always b about tota and utter devotion. or more simply jus burning fings and my pyromania. but i am devoted to people and i adopted this song! it means tones to me and got me into the band in the first place
I'm a Christian, as kid5n1, so I can see where he's coming from here. The lyrics could just as easily have been written by a Christian band, but I don't think these guys are one. Devotion seems to be the general consensus here, and I'd have to say I agree.
apologies for seeming to disagree with the "nah" there, :)
I know a lot of people don't and won't understand, but the song sounds like a relationship between mankind and Jesus, If you have ever gone to an adoration chapel and knelt down before him you might understand.
