love this song. fred mertz, played by william frawley, was a character on the “i love lucy” sitcom. apparently he was a huge d*ck. i feel like this song plays on that with the red lucy reference and the fred mertz lines haha.
It's pretty much a metaphor for being in love with someone and watching them in the arms of another, knowing that they could never be yours.
