Caught In A Flood With The Captain Of The Cheerleading Squad Lyrics

How's your bell-curve? Mine's right-skewed average low. Very low. And the river - she has grown very high. Fell from the sky. And I'm wasted on cancer and bible school - not like you. Yeah, you're wasted, full and drunk from too much rain and pain and anger at tumors like me. If it would make you comfortable, I'd jump out of this tree, or maybe we could get married and be happy. These few words could be the last we ever speak. Do you think, maybe, you could love me or like me maybe? Maybe you'd look at me, you'd talk to me, we could marry, live in this tree. But it's unlikely. You don't like me, and I don't like me, and it's unlikely.

It makes me think back to being the kid in high school, not really in with any social strata. You have no confidence. I was brainy, thought about numbers, words and what not, but I sat on a large, yet weakly-structured bubble of emotions. The bell curve reference is him to himself. Being wasted on cancer and bible school - it makes me think so much about growing up in the South. Someone's dying, you pray, all the good kids go to church, and the cheerleader is everything.

The flood is just the rush of life, the short-term of time during which he may see this girl. Inadequacies prevail, and he's astute and/or mistaken enough to think that his self-doubt is projected.

I wrote something similar to this in a high school journal that was published annually. It was much more pleasant, but every time I hear this song, I put my face there with hers. Nonetheless, she's doing well, we keep in touch, and see each other now and again.

The awkward boy is a grown-assed man, not settling for any life not of my own choosing. That's a stark contrast to the life you had (right-skewed, average low) and what your parents/caregivers wanted for you hopefully out of love.

Depp South residents, can you feel me?

think about it... bellcurve being the normal point of distribution...

"how's your distribution between the happy and sad things in life" "mine's pretty off, too low, too sad" "the tears have grown... pouring from my eyes" so on and so on... it's not that hard! come on people.

Man, I just did the bell-curve in school, and I was all like, What does that have to do with anything in this song? I feel lost and confused, but still it's a top notch song, and I like to touch it.
