this song is about distancing from your friends, and then they give you crap about it. I.E. if you invites someone out with you, and they refuse, and then they blame you for not ever being able to hang out. Then towards the end of the song he says "Remember how you started and where you came from." which means to me that, he has introduced a person to so many friends, and has made said person more popular.

It could also be a similair situation but from a musical standpoint. Like maybe someone(maybe more than one person) saying they've lost touch with their local scene. It always seems to happen when bands start to make it. Meh. But I also like the friend meaning.
