Nice Dream Lyrics
The "sea would electrocute us all" line reminds me of one of my friends-suposed to be my best, not so much anymore. Every time i'd call him he'd never pick up, and he rarely returned my calls, no matter how urgent i sounded. We made plans a few times, but he had "forgotten" about them and made bigger, better plans, without me, of course. So the "sea would electrocute..." bit i think is about always having some grandiose excuse as to why you can't come help. even though, of course they'd love to come help. (nice dream) in a nutshell, you get this glorified image of a person, you friend, and they turn out to be just as flawed a human as you are, if not more so. whats worse, any loseness you felt wasnt really there. you took the friendship for granted but it was nothing but a daydream. and they, well they took you for granted.
I've very similar experience. Only the "friend" was a girl who I was love with. She didn't know. She gave me sunshine and made me happy. I was there always when she needed. When I need something, just see her, she couldn't. There was always something what electrocute us. I was living this nice dream. Thought, I'm strong enough, well I wasn't. Finally, it caught me up and melt me down.

Trexor, you ignorant slut. Just because Thom doesn't say shit in his songs like "Oops! I did it again!" and "Quit playing games with my heart!", which require no mental capacity to find the meaning, doesnt mean that his songs have no meaning. On the contrary, finding your personal meanings in Radiohead songs actually requires you to have some sort of fucking intelligent thought in your head.
lifes a dream.....sleep well

oh, and lets keep the petty arguments separated from the comments on the song, please. i find it irritating to have arguments pop up in fromt of me while id rather be concentrating on reading others' views of songs i enjoy, which is what the site is for.
The main themes and feelings I get from radiohead are powerlessness, insecurity, and alienation from mainstream. This song seems to deal with these feelings, and say that it's ok that you don't fit in, find something to do with yourself and the talent you might have.
i think its about the 'in' crowd. how these people are your friends only because you're popular. and when the lyrics say 'she'd love to come help, but the sea will electrocute us' i think it means something like, she can't be friends with him based on who he REALLY is, but what he PRETENDS to be. so basically, faking it to be with the cool people, it isn't reality. it is a dream.
slightly inspired by several comments made by Thom, I'd say this song is about being famous and knowing that once you are famous it would be ignorant to believe anyone really likes you. All things positive that come your way are just fan worship, attempted manipulation, etc.
this is my favorite song off The Bends... yep.
Thom Yorke said that it's about the band's relationship with people in general. For me,this song is about how we believe sometimes that our friends are real friends and that everbody in our lives really cares when in fact it's nothing more than an illusion in our heads or a "nice dream".Another Radiohead song that reflects my life!!!
exactly what i feel about song.. lots of my dumb pals think that its about how awesome my friends are!!!!
