White Belly Lyrics
That was some hurricane,
Rode in on the back of a heart attack.
Made a mistake on the fire escape in San Francisco.
Made my way back in a hallway in L.A.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Too long, too lame,
Now I'm gone.
Somewhere to sleep,
Somewhere to sleep,
Somewhere to scrape your body off my feet.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Too long ,too lame,
Now I'm gone
White belly up in the sun,
White belly up in the sun.
Still diving for the big one.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Put on your black dress.
Foat on your back.
Too long, too lame,
Now i'm gone
White belly up in the sun,
White belly up in the sun.
Rode in on the back of a heart attack.
Made a mistake on the fire escape in San Francisco.
Made my way back in a hallway in L.A.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Too long, too lame,
Now I'm gone.
Somewhere to sleep,
Somewhere to sleep,
Somewhere to scrape your body off my feet.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Too long ,too lame,
Now I'm gone
White belly up in the sun,
White belly up in the sun.
Still diving for the big one.
Put on your black dress.
Float on your back.
Put on your black dress.
Foat on your back.
Too long, too lame,
Now i'm gone
White belly up in the sun,
White belly up in the sun.

great song, about death too...lovely lovely.
Abortion? (This is all MY opinion and thoughts about the song!!!)
Made a mistake on the fire escape in San Francisco. (had sex...got pregnant) Made my way back in a hallway in L.A. (back alley clinic) Put on your black dress. (black dress = death) Float on your back. (drink or do drugs to escape the pain) Too long, too lame, Now I'm gone. (missing a part of herself) Somewhere to sleep, (sleep so to not have to think about what happend?) Somewhere to sleep, Somewhere to scrape your body off my feet. (cuz the guy is scum for not supporting her)

Belly songs are hard to interpret. There is another chorus with a few new lines at the end not listed here. I do think the song is somehow related to how women dressed and groomed during the grunge / alter-punk era where Belly was popular. Men and women wore black outfits and seemingly avoided the sun, especially on area where clothing was worn. I sort of like the concept of this being related to an abortion by a woman in this scene. She then turns to sex and drugs until her death where she goes while belly up in the sun.
