Never Stop Lyrics
good god you said
is that the only thing you care about
splitting up the money
and share it out
the cake's being eaten
straight through the mouth
poison
poised to come back in
season
for all the ones who lacked reason
measure by measure drop by drop
and pound for pound we're taking stock
of all the treasures still unlocked
the love you found must never stop
the king is dead
and love live the people who aim above
all the simple stuff never understood
like right from bad and wrong from good
deny
that you were ever temped by the
lie
that there's an answer in the
sky
measure by measure drop by drop
and pound for pound we're taking stock
of all the treasures still unlocked
the love you found must never stop
never stop
is that the only thing you care about
splitting up the money
and share it out
the cake's being eaten
straight through the mouth
poison
poised to come back in
season
for all the ones who lacked reason
and pound for pound we're taking stock
of all the treasures still unlocked
the love you found must never stop
and love live the people who aim above
all the simple stuff never understood
like right from bad and wrong from good
deny
that you were ever temped by the
lie
that there's an answer in the
sky
and pound for pound we're taking stock
of all the treasures still unlocked
the love you found must never stop

According to "Rip It Up And Start Again", this was written in response to Thatcher's victory in the 1983 general election; the first verse, for example, is a diatribe towards those who voted for her.
@Bulgaroktonos Yes, there's a story that a guy in Scotland took issue with the anti-Thatcher theme of the song, confronted McCulloch at a hotel or hall and also insinuated Ian was a homosexual and a melee ensued. McCulloch claims he kicked and clocked the guy.

Love the string instrumentation in this song. For me this song is about the space between right and wrong; the irony is the absolutism of the title, trying to stay faithful and true to ones idealism in love while also realizing there is a lot of wiggle room between right and bad/wrong and good and that life is about compromise, not living in a world of strictly black and white dichotomies where cake is either poison or poised to come back in season.
WOW! Excellent song! One of their best - IMHO.
Pretty sure this is about people making money off religion. Something that is sadly far too common nowadays.
