I Am Hated For Loving Lyrics
I am hated for loving
I am hated for loving
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the small of the back again
I still don't belong
To anyone - I am mine
And I am hated for loving
I am haunted for wanting
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the ... ah ...
A brick in the small of the back again
I still don't belong
To anyone - I am mine
I am falling
With no-one to catch me
I am falling
And there's still
No-one to catch me
Ah ..
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the ... ah ...
A brick in the small of the back again
I just don't belong
To anywhere
I just don't belong
Mmm ...
Ah ...
I am hated for loving
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the small of the back again
I still don't belong
To anyone - I am mine
I am haunted for wanting
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the ... ah ...
A brick in the small of the back again
I still don't belong
To anyone - I am mine
With no-one to catch me
I am falling
And there's still
No-one to catch me
Ah ..
Anonymous call, a poison pen
A brick in the ... ah ...
A brick in the small of the back again
I just don't belong
To anywhere
I just don't belong
Mmm ...
Ah ...

Everyone who constantly feels like they need to reference his lyrics to homosexuality is not a true fan and is ultimately missing the point of his lyrics. Im so sick of everyone just assuming hes homosexual. Hes been ridiculously honest about everything in his life including his sexuality. The subject is boring and takes away from the value of his music.
Not sure why you're complaining... I think just about anyone can in some way can relate to his writing, but you can't act like it isn't incredibly easy for most queers in particular to identify with it better than most hetero-normative people... Why do you think so many gay guys like Morrissey in the fist place? It isn't for his looks! Not these days...

You seem a bit too concerned that a bunch of depressed fags happen to find parallels to their personal lives in a bunch of songs you happen to like yourself, which seems borderline homophobic, frankly... He didn't write this song for you any more than he did Joe Cocksucker down the road, so why are you acting like they took something from you?
Who cares?

I think this song is about someone who so wants to love & be loved that he seems desperate & pathetic to others, so those people treat him badly (or "hate" him). Basically, like most of Morrissey's songs, it's about a vulnerable, sensitive person who is lonely.
beautiful song beautiful album beautiful morrissey K?
wow I can't believe I said that.. how awful of me. wish I could delete my comment. Morrissey is great, and a kind person..
this song is so beautiful... musically, lyrically... vauxhall is genius, morrissey is beautiful
i think its about the critics who downplay his music for being on the depressing side.
ok karmax I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that D:
I always thought that this was more general than most people say. I think this is just about having a passion/love for something - I guess homosexuality would make sense, but too many people just assume that it must be - but being hated for it. Maybe it's just about his music
It's not about homosexuality. It's about a woman who loves taken men.
Timeless music - pure poetry. Vauxhall and I is probably my fav Morrissey album
